Laws order for Last Autumn
This might be a weird one to ask, but there's a lot of laws in Last Autumn and only so much time to grab them.

The very beginning seems the optimal time to grab stuff, but it's tricky. If you take something like Public House or Bath or Care House you have to build it within X days. And this takes lots of wood and also steel. This is important when you have to set up foragers and build tents to avoid major dicontent (I usually build medical post first so I can handle people sleeping by the pit for the first 3 days or so). This is doubly important for higher difficulties with little room for error and sort of "proper" build order.

So if you start actively taking laws and building infrastructure and stuff for your people, you can easily handicap your industry and miss your first deadline. On the other hand, if you don't take laws until later on, you'll find yourself in a situation where you'd rather take Engineer/Worker laws than Administration ones so you miss out on those until later on.

So which laws you usually take first and which are postponed until later? This applies both to Administration and Engineer/Workers trees. Any laws you try to "rush" in particular?

Disclosure, I still haven't played the higher difficulties, but this is what I do: I rush Bouts because that's the only way to reduce discontent. I tend to postpone grave laws and medical laws to the very end and opted to just always stay on safe level. I also skipped the meal laws. Siding with the workers you will be able to maintain motivation even easier and I also think it's easier of the two but that's because of how I play. For Labor laws, I rushed Short Shifts and Safety Procedures, and then the 2 laws beyond them. I skipped Dispensary and only picked 24 hour shift after getting People's Council.

On higher diffs you have more time to get laws as you tend to take longer to do each stage. You can do the same on lower diffs if you want but you can get access to better law earlyer.

In general I find what I do is.

Pre stage 1

Grab anything that dosent require you to build at first as you don’t got the resources so hearty meals sustain life extra rations for the ill don’t take overcrowding on this map the discontent is not worth it and I’ll comes in waves so you can match extra ratios with the wave to great effect.

If going eng and not deathless grab coke. Builders don’t bother as you got tons of motivation in that case. Eng you don’t care about deaths so the early boost is nice.

After those three resources are loser and I grab large motivation gains that don’t take labor. So chapel than evening prayor into bathhouse and comply room public house is last norm stage 1 starts as I get on extreme.

At min you want public house pre stage 1 so move it up if near stage 1 as without it people will strike asking for it. Skip bathhouse and comfy till later if need be as gains are small. The morgue law grab if time but in general leave till you have a dead.

Don’t get fights yet as your med is not yet good to handle the extra sick you have so little people that one sick extra is a decent percent of your labor and you should have basicly no discontent till after two shifts so not needed yet.

Stage 1 you get to sign two laws before having to sign a saftey law if timed well it’s a rather lose window of 12 hours leeway. This lets you get two shift and shift work cord right away.

After you must sign a saftey law or you miss your obj so take short shift it’s better than safe proc. After that you have the option if your not near 50 percent on the gen take short shift cord for the boost otherwise of near 50 percent get safe proc so you can pair both safe work and short shift to pass the first event without vents thou i often have one also. No matter what the gas level is.

After that you got some spare time on extreme on lower diffs you might not. Use this to go back and get any other law you skipped earlyer. This is when I grab bouts and prostitution. If you don’t got time you can skip safe work proc as it’s only a small boost and just time the gen so that your at least unhealthy when first event happens. Make sure to get bouts at min before going to eng or builders thou as this allows you to keep more 24 hour shifts going so a large boost and health care won’t even notice it at this point.

After this you got builder or eng pick. Both work but from here your mainly just using laws in there from here on as more value than the lower laws. You can go back to other stuff you skipped once your as low as you want.

Get morgue ASAP no matter what your doing at the time of a death happens even if this mean missing your obj for signing a safe law. Thou better not have a death that early.



As for carehouse I skip it entirely if playing eng. as you should not get grav ill if med care can stay on top of sick and they should be able to. Your only source of them beyond that is the events so long so you plan for them and are safe for the later ones unhealthy for first you won’t get any. Making it a dead law. ESP as by the time I got a spare law I got infirmarys up making it pointless.

I took the laws without building at first in normal: sustain life and then extra ration. Gave me time for resources.
