Game Length
As the title says, is the game really as short as some people are making it out to be? I heard 3 hours or something like that.

I'm pretty interested in this title so I'm checking out the state of things.

Any help would be appreciated.

At the moment the game has three different scenarios. Completing each of those once on normal is about 12-16 hours. But there is replayability beyond that going for diferent goals (like doing it on hard, or specific achievements). It's not an endlessly replayable game, because at it's core it's a puzzle so once you solve it once, you have solved it. But there is a good amount of time to spend solving every different puzzle, and the devs will at some point this year creat more.

It *is* short, but it seems planned updates means we can have even more fun at a free cost with the planned updates. It is an intense run through your first victory, one that I whole heartedly recommend. Hunting achievements gives it some longevity, certainly, but it is one of those 'play every now and again but keep your eye on it cause updates look promising'. Not a whole lot of Steampunk-Survival-Citybuilders I think, and this one can easily go for my standard '$1/hr of fun' rule.

Here's the thing. Frostpunk will fully depends on your playstyle. Some will play it over and over, some will play it once, get angry there isn't more to do, and have to twiddle thier fingers waiting for more.

I've got about 20 something hours in it...but I'm not an achievement hunter, or elitistst...once i play a story once, if it doesn't change i have no intrest in doing it again.. I think calling it a city builder is a bad idea. It's not a city builder, or even a sandbox like city skylines, or Prision Arcitect..not at this time. It laqcks the core aspects that make logbevirty fun too, at this time.... the gfame needs a while to breath if it will ever have that level of depth or complexity.

Games like city builders I can invest 100's of hours in... In the case of Prision Arcitect, over 400 hours in it....this game, is at the same $30 price point as Prision Arcitect, but this game lacks what makes the buld mode in that game so great....all of the complexity and options.

This is about managing tempreaure, people, rescorces, and surviving to the end of the story. There's no real depth beyond that. It looks like time will change that, but if you approach this game from the mindset of city builder, you will likely be disapointed.

Hmm...Seems I'll hold off until some updates come through. I'm not in a huge hurry anyway.

Bit of a late reply, as I just got the game myself. I hope it doesn't qualify as necro yet. For me the playtime seems good so far. After 8 hours on the first scenario I'm at day 30 and I've read that the scenario has 48 days so I guess I'll be looking at around 12 hours just for the first scenario. If the other 2 scenarios are equally long then it's 30+ hours just from playing the 3 scenarios on normal difficulty.

Also seems very replayable to me to beat higher difficulties and because you can make different story decisions and how you handle things which will play out differently.

I seriously doubt anyone actually played through the game in 3 hours. I don't see how that would be possible unless he was maybe playing on easy or had prior knowledge of the game and played through the whole game on the fastest game speed. Sounds like speed running to me.
