Any other build simulators with story mode and lore?
I didn't play games like Frostpunk since probably SimCity which I used to play when I was a child.

But this one open my eyes honestly... Now till I wait future update to Frostpunk I'm trying to find something else, but with story-mode or scenarios with some lore.

I tried demo version of Skylines and I don't like it.

I don't get most common opinion from people who like build simulators that the story mode last thing such game needed. I think Frostpunk is the best proof to this with 250,000 copies sold.

I'm not interested to play a sandbox where I just change numbers without any goal. I think it's just waste of time. I don't want just build a city and watch how it's working. What I want it's a hard challenge with good narrative.

The Anno games usually feature quite a lengthy story, but usually the narrative is also quite cliche' and forgettable and the tasks have little dramatic urgency. The story campaign in Anno games is usually like an extended tutorial to get you to the point where you master all the mechanics, mostly revolving around achieving some number goal (build X things, fetch V in a limited amount of time, have Y people of class Z).

I know it's not quite what you asked for, but to my knowledge Frostpunk so far really is the only survival story city builder. I think the Anno series perhaps comes closest mechanics-wise, though you have a lot of complex production chains (hemp farms harvest hemp, which is put into a warehouse, which then gets turned into rope and clothes in specific production facilities etc. etc.)

There is also "Project AURA", postapocaliptic game.
Though, it's not about cold - it's about water.
Very hardcore production chains, some ppl love it.....Some - dont. If you will try it - dont skip tutorial))))
Not like this.....but maybe you will find "this war of mine", another game of the same developers, to your liking.

there are a few city builder games with either a full story mode or at least with guided goals.
Tropico4
There's a newer tropico, but I'd start with 4.
Settlers 7
There are early ones, but graphics wise I'd start here and work your way back.
Anno 2070 or Dawn of Discovery
Both are good, Dawn is way better IMHO. Similar gameplay with different time periods.
Aven Colony
Another Space colony game. The mixed reviews don't really give it justice, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

there are also much older games that are challenging, such as Caeser, Pharaoh and Zeus. Similar city builders with guided goals set in different time periods. I wouldn't grab those from steam though, due to their age they don't run well on modern systems. GOG.com has more compatible versions.

You might also look at 'Imagine Earth'. It's still in early access, but does have a story mode.

As was mentioned above, Aven Colony is also pretty good.

Oh, yeah, I used to play all these titles. Perfect games.

I saw trailer with some new build simulator about Egypt, Akhenaten: Rule as Pharaoh, but still nothing except cinematic video.

I remember having a great time playing Stronghold franchise and Settlers 5 and 6.
Actually with all the influx of sandbox builders I struggle to remember any recent storydriven rts with city building elements. In the past games were worth buying not only for the gameplay but also for the story. Ah good old times when C&C franchise was still alive and kicking.

I liked Grand Ages: Rome. It has campaign with a bit of story too.

If you need a storymode, you are wrong with survival and citybuilder games... sry.

lol really? And why the hell do you think your opinion is right?

You think developers of Frostpunk were wrong to create such a great scenarios?

I would never buy this game if there were only sandbox mode without story.

I want exactly build simultor with scenario. I can't play a game if I don't empathize to what is going on.

Btw I believe most people who have ability doing boring stuff without any sense are a bit autists. This is sick.

Dungeon III. Altough it didn't exactly like city building game but more like dungeon lair building for
your creatures, It has a story and lore with funny narrative as you progress.
