The outside world might be "Cold"
Tents have a "base heating of 1". This means that they're one level above the outside world: "Chilly".
If a temple has a "base heating of 3", this means that they're 3 levels above the outside world: "Comfortable"
This base heating level is natural insulation and you don't have to spend coal to make the building like this. It's always better to build warm and invest in this sort of insulation.
-10 °C = Liveable
-20 °C = Chilly
-30 °C = Cold
-40 °C = Very cold
-50 °C and less = Freezing
One level of heating makes the building 10 °C warmer than the outside. The building itself without the generator or heater has a "base heating level". You can get it warmer by:
- Putting it in the generator range or range of a steam hub (1-4 levels)
- Enabling the heater (1-3 levels)
- In range of a field kitchen (1 level)
- Researching more insulation (1-2 levels)
