Definitely below 120C.

Its pretty easy to manage until the big storm. I have been trying to figure out the best balance to automate my way through that. Issue is in order to keep everyone from freezing to death I have to run the steam engine so hot it burns through all my coal no matter what I do.

Probably the most important tip is to research insulation fairly early, so your people don't need to chew through as much coal. Anything that gives you passive warmth will work from that point on. If you're not going for the tent achievement, houses are fantastic (though getting there is a bit of a slog).

During the storm it will drop to -120 C. Be sure to research building insulation and heating effeciency upgrades. If buildings get to cold you can have a sudden spike in the sick population which can quickly wipe you out.

And on Hard mode, the final temperature will go down to -150 C.

So that was fun...! XD
But, I made it! :D

I had 510+ people. When the storm ended, I had 164.

It goes down to -150°C at the very end of the storm. Pretty sure everything was on standard difficulty as it was my first run. I managed to come out with over 600 people but my generator was very close to blowing up. Make sure you have plenty of coal & research all the insulations. Overload efficiency was the one thing I missed that I really needed.

Is the temparature given "with chill factor added"? I mean, doesn't CO2 start to freeze into dry ice below -80C so wouldn't that cause some pretty dramatic stuff to the atmosphere? If it's "chill factored" then it would be more sensible and would even fit with the storm winds.

Yes, yes. Game. But still. :steamhappy:

-150C on normal mode for me.

Note CO2 does not freeze out of the air below the freezing point, any more than it would start snowing if the temperature hit below 0C

-150 before everything went back to the way they were. Biggest tip I could give you without giving too much would be to have lots of coal and food. Good luck.
