The Ark - Shelter for New Manchester
So how exactly do I send a relief expedition? I have the required resources and multiple automata, I send one and nadda'. There's no visible option to send one in any of the menus anywhere either.

Nevermind, just found the tab. Maybe make that more noticeable or something.

Yeah, couldn't find it either at first.

Just a heads up, saving New Manchester is satisfying (and hard, you need a lot of resources) but the achievement for that is probably bugged.

It's in the beacon building. Press the arrow icons next to the build-a-scout button.

Ended up saving them but my city died in the process because I was 300 coal away from the preparation for the storm.
Hooray.

I agree this should have been more evident. In my confusion I sent a lone Automaton scout over when I had the required resources. I figured my error when he arrived and nothing happened.

This is an awful design.

Would help if when clicking 'we'll do what we can' on finding New Manchester a tutorial summary pop-up happens that gives instructions along the lines of "supplies will have to be sent to Ne Manchester before the storm - this can be done by going to the beacon etc".

Don't know if it would be too much hand-holding, but could also state what supplies need to be sent. I got caught first time after getting the wood and steel off, then seeing 2,000 food and not having enough time to make it. Knowing the full load of resources that needed to be gathered wouldn't take anything away from the game as you just need to manage all three as soon as you start preparing for Manchester vs sequential.

Or maybe this is already in a tutorial summary page on saving New Manchester ? Its not there earlier in the game, but haven't checked to see if one appears after discovering it.

edit: or just have a list of supplies that need to be sent as soon as the 'save New Manchester' sewuence starts ? (like the list of things that need to be done to stock up own base). Don't see any great game benefit in having it sequential as stages 1, 2, 3, except to catch people out during the first playthrough. I enjoyed the game just as much on later runs knowing what supplies had to be amassed.
