Little angry at the ending
So I managed to get to the order ending, I didn't research the final thing, I had prisons and I had propaganda, guards, and the loyalty program (that one was a mistake), but it could EASILY be argued (losing a 4th of my population at the end) that I didn't go far enough.

And yet the game says I went too far? I kept the system from going full stalinist and it was too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ far?

Like I'd be fine with that if I'd used the final law. Or gone about smacking heads with my guards. But I never did, so I'm a little angry that the game suggests I went too far when the system can still change back presumably since I didn't go full brainwashing on folks.

Like, I appreciate that the game leaves that open to interpretation, but it still feels a bit ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to have the game condemning me for using the basic tools given to me while deliberately avoiding going all in on the gulag aesthetic.

edit: To be clear, I'd probably be okay with it berating me for the guards and prison if I'd ever actually used their abilities to enforce my will on the populace. Patrols were never implied to do anything except be like 'oh hey, we're walking around' I got -teddy bears- given to me because I had discontent so low and it wasn't until the very end when I botched saving up food that it really went to hell.

Had the exact same feeling, even went down the same path. Guilt trip beyond belief.

I'm pretty sure the game doesn't care about your interactions in-game, but rather what you signed as laws.

I had the same feeling as well. I think the developers were disrespectful to the player with this ending. They tried to create a false guilt/remorse in the player because I think they thought this way this game can be elevated to a whole another level because it can evoke feelings inside of the player... pathetic.

I mean I did basically everything in the best way possible and still the game literally only focused on the worst aspects of the campaign and it tried to sell neutral decisions as negative ones as well. For example the ending implied that I did something bad by building a prison, but it was one of the options in the mid-story and I had to choose and this seemed the most fair and least harmful option. The most civilized. The game failed to mention any good thing I've done.

1. I found basically every single outsider and let all of them into the city

2. 95% made it out alive (I saved more than 530 people)

3. I gave extra food to the sick instead of giving them fewer

4. I fastly treated the sick persons (almost no one's condition got worse)

5. When someone did something questionable in the community, I was gentle (for example when a woman wanted to steal 2 food rations, instead of punishing her, I let her have them)

6. There were never been points through the entire story when someone got hungry (every character was well feeded till the end)

7. I did basically everything to keep the Hope level high and Discontent low (this was always zero)

8. I tried to never sign any laws that could have been harmful to the community in any way (I intentionally avoided them)

9. I maxed out the temperature in order to provide a healthy and comfortable enviroment to the characters

I could go on and on. I did basically the most perfect/purist walkthrough possible and still the game tried to imply that I only did wrong. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disrespectful.

I was surprised as hell when I apparently got the "good" Faith ending my second time 'round. I thought for sure that letting a militant sect loose in my streets and publicly flogging and beating people until they repented was enough to push it "over the line"........but apparently not.

Whereas with Order, it was just a piece of paper.

....declaring your loyalty to me.

Nothing wrong with that....

Almost all the laws can be viewed as good or bad depending on your perspective.

Child Labor - You monster putting the kids to work in this hell hole
No Child Labor - This is life and death why aren't you using everything at your disposal to help the city survive?

Soup Law - ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's not enough we're freezing, now we can't even get a full meal?

Though my Order Playthrough I didn't cross the line according to the game. But I never did anything bad in my perspective anyway.

The entire point of the timelapse at the end is mostly to illustrate your major choices I believe. The Negative/Positive comes from when it says you did or didn't cross the line.

But what arbitrary law does it point to in each branch that you’ve crossed the line once you’ve passed that specific law?
Tazkar Apr 26, 2018 @ 2:52am
That I don't know right off, I've heard it's the whole 'Obediance' 'Faith' ones that replace the Hope bar.
But I personally have a feeling its a culimination of law choices that singly don't seem bad but combined push it over the edge. As well as responses to the various quests that pop up from time to time.
But that's just speculation on my part without knowing the nitty and gritty with how complicated or simplistic they programmed that decision.

But I didn't choose the final law, I purposely didn't because I looked at it and thought, "Ok this is just stupid."
shadowclasper Apr 28, 2018 @ 10:07am
I think if you use any of the last 3 laws in either tree, you cross the line, which makes sense... I'd be willing to accept that as a reason for crossing the line.

You are mad because some game says you weren't the nicest person in an end of the world scenario?

I went the full faith route (I had seen a lot of the gameplay videos went with order, so decided to do something else). And you get the same sort of ending. I sent "faith keepers" around to beat up people who didn't toe the "god" line. People were whipped in the streets. And in the end I was basically god.

In one of the other scenarios (refugees) I didn't let anyone from the lord camps into my city (there were ~300 of them and there was no way I could see of supporting them). And in the end of that I was called heartless and that I likely killed them all.

It was fun to play and I don't give a damn about the little commentary at the end.
ThatGuyFuryan Apr 28, 2018 @ 10:43am
The choices here don't really matter, and the game still has pop ups for events you've already completed (and really shouldn't at that point).

The ending is a down point but an update or two could improve things.

That's how every dictator feels, OP. Propaganda and prison beatings aren't really all that serious, are they? It's practically Liberalism+!
Jacknm2 Apr 28, 2018 @ 10:46am
I Feel no guilt. Heed the word of your Glorious saviour! I only I can take you from the bitter Ice and back to the warmth :P

I did a few endings as you can see :P, first time I finished I got the "we crossed the line" ending.
TITAN Apr 28, 2018 @ 11:10am
If you don't use the new laws(faith or order) - will there be another ending?

Has anyone checked this? Or developers have not provided for this and you are to blame in any case?
