Main story finished in 10 hours
I don't understand why people rush the game in 2-3 hours on their first playthrough. My first playthrough of the main story took 10 hours, because I used "pause" a lot and carefully watched people's needs, resource supply, upgrade strategy, tried to really understand the game mechanics and sometimes just enjoyed watching the beautiful graphical presentation. I used max speed only while preparing for the endgame, never before.

In the end I survived because I luckily had enough coal stockpiled, everything heat-related upgraded to max, zero discontent and max hope. Nobody died outside of events, I scouted the whole map and rescued everyone, over 600 people. The endgame was intense and it felt great to succeed.

There would be no point to continue playing after the end event, since the whole crater was full with buildings, the whole map discovered and most of the tech tree was researched. There isn't really anything left to do after that. Frostpunk is not designed to be an endless city builder. All mechanics are very well balanced around the length of the main story.

For me the first playthrough experience alone was worth the 30 bucks, and I'm looking forward to playing the other two scenarios. After that I will surely replay the game using different stragies, choosing different laws, technologies and on hard difficulty. The possible achievements give some nice inspiration.

Big thanks to the developers. You delivered a great game which is totally worth the price.

Good job. I applaud your style of playing, this is how it was meant to play.

There are a lot of people out there that rush the game, and then they post "bugs" of something they just didn't read how it works, they don't read events, lore and popups. It is rather sad, as in those elements you can find true essence of the game.

Played my first game on hard (which is stupid way to do things) and restarted so many times....so it took me a while longer but it was a lot of fun even if its still less then 25 hrs of play to finish all three scenarios. It was a lot of fun and I feel I got my moneys worth.

I've spent 60 hours so far on the complete game, not just a single scenario and not just one difficulty setting. It has been a blast! There has been more fun, tension and excitement in those 60 hours than I've had in hundreds of hours of other games I could mention.
I'm now chasing the achievements after I take a break ;)

Wow, my thread resurrected. :-) So here my conclusion so far:

I have spent 68 hours on it in one week. The last time I did spend so much time on a game must be 10 years ago during school time. Now I took a week off work for it. Was a great experience.

Had no performance issues, no crashes and only a few minor bugs. Completed all but two achievements: Charcoaled and the bugged one (fighting arena and public house). Will do another run for charcoaled and then happily wait for new content. :-)
