MacOS version of the game | Community Update
Hi there, Citizens!

As you know, Frostpunk for OS X was supposed to be launched in February but we decided to postpone the launch of this version due to some technical difficulties that were discovered at the very last moment. Over the past two months, we have been working hard to polish the game and while it’s not ready yet, we need to stress that, despite rumours, OS X version of the game has not been canceled - it is simply undergoing development and polish that has been deemed so needed back in February.

We’re very grateful for your patience and understanding, we are also well aware of your eagerness to get your hands on the game. It’s a letdown that Frostpunk still has not been released for OS X and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. We just feel that releasing the game in its current state, even despite all the work we put into it thus far, would mean giving you software that does not meet the quality standards that are expected of us. We’re deeply sorry for this situation - we’ve expanded our dev team to fix this version of Frostpunk and release it as soon as possible. We know that you’re expecting a release date and you have been waiting for it for quite a while - we’re doing our best to deliver the game you’re waiting for.

If you want to learn more about Frostpunk-related stuff, we've just released a major Community Update. Find it HERE.

Cheers!

Are those niche ports even profitable for you? How many people will buy this game on Mac or Linux? Five percent of your customers? Less? Not that I don't wish Mac owners to be able to enjoy Frostpunk too but I'd rather see all those months of development time spent on creating more content for this masterpiece.

As a Mac owner I thank you for the info and for not giving up on it. While not being a programmer and only having a basic knowledge of computers I do have an appreciation of how much time has to be devoted to get something right. That in itself deserves my respect and thanks. Have a great day.

oh, boy am I glad for this notification as a topic? Hell yeah. I got so captivated and interested in playing the game after watching and reading all about its launch trailers, posts, reviews, concept-arts, characterization and story-plot just because I do not have a windows platform to play right now. I wanted to play it so badly and was wondering why isn't it available for Mac. Now I can hope to play this in Mac in the near future, hopefully soon :steamhappy: ... However I do have a doubt...If I buy the game on a discount now with windows platform compatibility, will I be able to access the same after the game is launched for Mac OS X? If yes, I would love to buy the game before the deal offer ends.

Yes, you don't buy access to only one OS, you can install on any supported OS.

I tried installing it tonight and Steam said "success!" but then the file folder was empty...this explains it :)

It's a bummer that the game shows as an available to play on the Mac in the store, but then you can't actually play it on the Mac.

Just a Linux guy here to note that as long as you're porting it to a *nix-like system, we'd love to see a Linux port as well. I actually added this to my cart to buy before I noticed it was Windows only. :(

Removed until I see Linux support.
