Emergency Shift and Extended Shifts
Am I the only one who thinks the Extended Shifts law should be available before the Emergency Shift? The former is used a lot more commonly by players, and the latter is the logical extreme of the former.

No. You are not. A number of people (myself included) commented the same around release. Then it became a dead letter about the time the Fall of Winterhome scenario was released, because there wasn't much point griping about it.

I disagree, an uncommon double shift is not the extreme of regular 3 or whatever more hours every day.

Well, it could make a big difference in the early game having access to Extended Shifts so that you could get your people to gather more resources from the piles, rather than risking an emergency shift and getting your people killed.

Your very first* emergency shift won't kill anyone, and it can give you a really good boost early.

*note: you can use multiple emergency shifts, as long as they are started at the exact same moment (from pause) without causing any deaths. For example, I used it at the start of my extreme endless endurance run on four resource piles, which allowed to clear them quickly, gave me lots of resources to build with before temperature drops and freed much needed workers for building and gathering posts built in the first day/night.
