Cookhouse helper as a "Promise" event.
Title basicly says it all...
Why is this event not a "Promise" event instead?

All things considerd, yes, a minor thing.
But it just keeps poping up at the worst time, and now I was hit with it at 99 wood and I am like...
"SUREIOUSLY?!?!!"

I wish we could go:
"Oh, huh... well, I am sure we can accomodate this with a days prep time!"

Yeah, I agree with you, but with a caveat. From narrative and logical point of view, it should definitely be a promise type event. From gameplay point of view, I see why they made it as is, it only has a positive outcome, and the cost is too low to make make it a challenge, so you are either well prepared to get an additional bonus or you are not.

Yea, obviously I get the challange part of the event.
I am personaly not one who enjoys random events poping up that can deffinently be avoided or handled.

For instance, random events like kids trapped, or dying, or accidents - those happen, and you need a decission that needs to be made, NOW!!!
I don't mind those events, because they are thematicaly and logicaly sound.
"♥♥♥♥ happens, we got to deal with it!"

Events like these that force you to be ready without a good choice, where you would clearly have the time to deal with it from both a thematic and logical view.
That I don't personaly find enjoyable or challanging.
It just feels arbitrary and annoying.

Here...
Allow me to paint out how this conversation must have gone in the game:

"Hey Captain! We have decided that we do not want to be a burden and useless! Despite our disability, we want to help. All we need is a bit of wood and we can get started."

"Oh that is great you guys! But listen... I only have 99 wood out of your 100 demanded. The second the next shift starts, we can get in one more plank and get you started, how about that?"

"THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE AND WE WILL NEVER OFFER OUR HELP AGAIN!!"

And that is why it is bugging me! XD

I agree, in their shoes I'd see it as "oh, we don't have the supplies for that. But we will a half second after the shift starts (or hell, a second after we quit talking to the captain so he can grab a bit of road). that's fine, we can wait half a second"

best way is to anticpate this event, it triggers when you have 15 amputies ina care house, no care house, no reqeust, so aproaching 14~ amputees, dismantle(but pause it right away), hit 15, save the extra wood, cancel dismantle, wait for it to trigger, profit!!!
