Just wondering about DLC
Back in the day (I am 68) I bought all the Infocom games, Zelda, Castlevania (well you get the idea). When I finished the game I went on, or replayed it as I wished. Never did I think I was getting a lifetime of new content with each purchase. The games were more expensive relatively then too if I recall. So what is the problem people are having with not getting enough free content or having to pay $5.00 for a new map? I am genuinely confused about this quirky gaming world (made up) problem.

It comes down to they don’t want to give up one coffee (I have had many coffees worth over 5 bucks) to get a few hours of entertainment.

The new map I played on hard than extreme to play around for 7 hours of entertainment so far. I’m pritty well done with the map and want the full campaigns now but it was enough to get me back in the game so was worth the cost. To boot wasent even 5 bucks as with the season pass it’s discounted.

I don’t get how people complain about getting a few hours of entertainment for the price of a coffee where if I want to go out the price of parking or gas to get there alone not including what you do will often end up as more than 5 bucks.

Plus you can earn 5 bucks by going to the supermarket and helping unload/returning the cart of basicly any old person you find. Norm get a buck or two as a tip when you do it. Often when bringing my own stuff out see a old person with a loaded cart offer to help not expecting anything and get that. So the cost is really quite small vs what you get.

It’s only makes sense since others in the industry charge that plus pirates making it so people will steal it if they charge more. Not since it should be that low. The avg movie I watch costs about as much as a game when you add in the pop popcorn and tickets for only 3-4 hours entertainment.

I play this game with Steam in offline mode because having my internet on makes my old HP run slow. I would not be at all surprised to find out I had 600 + hours in my $20.00 game, so what, maybe 30 cents an hour? I am working on achievement 70 of 75 right now. I don't mind paying these artists for their work when I can enjoy it endlessly for nearly nothing. As a side note, I am wheelchair bound (can't return carts LOL) and on widows pension, so limited income, possibly unlike some of these hands-out complainers.

I completely agree. I will galdly support the developers because they deserve it. People just don‘t seem to know that making games is their job and they have to make some money... Even that free content which was released last year isn‘t standard in videogame industry so everyone should be grateful for that.

I think the big issue is people are seeing the Expansion as costing more than the base game. (Which it does if purchased individually).

Generally Expansions are equal or cheaper to the base game, and give you roughly 33%-66%~ more content along with changes to the base game itself.

Right now, we see one part of that the Rifts which is... an expansion mode with one new gimmick, bridges. Instead of the large amount of other ideas and speculations on the forums (repealing laws + events involving that, more random event chains, new research, ectera) we get bridges and the maps from the scenario now in Endless.

Which... is neat and all but what about all these other cool ideas? Where is any of that?

Edit: This game has lots of potential and a large room to add/do new cool things. We haven't seen this fully used yet. Bridges are neat but that's like, not the step you want to start with when introducing a big price tag.

TLDR: The expansion started off rather... unexcitedly. If it had started off with 'Big new Scenario + changes to the base game' people would be praising it, with Rifts as a mid-point here's this to tide you over till the next big chunk. People would be more receptive.

I think they did mistake with given so much free content prior any DLC. If they would save some of those and put it together or make scenario related to new bridge mechanic it would be received MUCH better.

I personally dont mind - but to be honest the price for just small thing is not exactly fair.

They are not Paradox, so we good.

Yes, the game has had a lot of free content, but the game has also been out a long time as well. I think people would be excited for new scenarios, new buildings, and new orders/upgrades, etc.

There's a lot of ideas for expansions among the community.

Literally no one said, "I can't wait until we get new maps for endless mode!! And you know what? BRIDGES!@@!"

And that's what we got for $5, lol. I ordered the season pass, so I'm all for supporting the devs with money. But only when they make content I actually want. It sounds like The Last Autumn is more of what I wanted in the first place. I refunded The Rifts.

How can you both buy the season pass and refund part of it...
Erratic Aug 30, 2019 @ 1:02pm
When Steam charges the season pass, they discount the content separately. So, I got $3.78 back for The Rifts, but I still have the other scenarios with the discount.

I don't know but The Rifts is $3.49 when bundled and $4.99 when purchased alone. I think.

No, I understand now from what Erratic said.

New Map...with the need for bridges...bridges are provided, the whole experience costs money....building bridges was a standard feature in most previous city builder games, just saying. You're not exactly breaking new/expensive ground here. Grow up devs.

I will miss your input in posts relating to the new map; I assume you will not be indulging your grown up self?

I think the fact that they introduced paid DLC isn't bad at all(devs have to eat somehow). However I do think having the rifts as the first DLC wasn't the best choice. If we got the last auttum first and the rifts second there would probably be less hate. It seems the rifts is more for people who really love the game and want to support the devs, with the money from the rifts they can improve the last auttum(and the one after that). The rifts is more of a way to show people that they're still working on the game and hyping up the next scenarios(wich are probably going to be very story-heavy).

Something like this
Buy part of it first then buy the pass and refund the part. I never tried or did this.
