About the demo version.
Hi there, everyone!

Ok, I've already posted it in one of the threads - but FreedomFighterEx (thanks, btw) suggested pinning it here so it's easier to find. :)

So, I can see that a lot of you are discussing demo version here as well as on Facebook, YouTube and in some other places - so I will try to explain our perspective here as fully as I can.

Firstly, we have never announced that any kind of demo will be available to the public. So as much as we LOVE (seriously, you are giving us a lot of useful feedback and we appreciate that) to see that you're passionate about the game and you want to play it already - even in unfinished form - your expectations are not based on any information that we've provided. On the contrary, we were communicating quite clearly, answering your questions about the early access, that we will publish the game when it's fully ready. So we are not interested in open alphas, betas, demos or early accesses. We believe in delivering a finished game.

Someone mentioned that it's called a Media/Press Demo for a reason. It is true. It's no secret - for us and other companies out there - we send this demo to press along with some additional information and technical details (if necessary) - for promotional reasons. It's quite standard strategy which should not shock anyone. This is how it works.

What is worth remembering, though - is that this demo is quite rough. It has no menus, there is no option to change game's settings or save the progress, it can cause some rare issues on specific machines etc. Long story short - showing this demo during shows or through well-informed media is a somewhat controlled environment for us. I know, I know. You're going to say "I don't care, it doesn't need to be perfect - but I want to test it out!". But this is not something we believe. Again. We believe in delivering a finished game. This demo is not representative of the final game - it's a preview build.

"It should be simple to polish the demo and publish it!" - someone might say. Nope. Creating an official, well-produced demo takes time. And we are tight on schedule here - we prefer to focus on polishing the final game instead of creating a demo. You can guess what I am going to say: We believe in delivering a finished game. It makes sense from our dev perspective, and it totally should make sense from consumer perspective as well. We want you to fully enjoy Frostpunk!

What about the demo after the game's release, then? Well, we are not sure. We are currently discussing it internally. That's all I can say and I cannot promise anything at the moment.

I tried explaining our point of view here the best I could - we try to be as transparent as we can. I assure you that we only want the best for you, guys, really. We feel that Frostpunk is going to be a great game. Let us focus on making it this way. :)

I hope that this clarifies the situation enough. Thanks a lot for sharing your feedback with us.

Have a good one! :)

At last, a developer that wants to concentrate on developing not messing with very painful EA (this is where bad reviews come from) I look orward to it's release and will keep up to date with forums and on here.

I hate to write this, because I want to play this game ... NOW!
Since Frostpunk lives of its awesome and dense atmosphere releasing it as a finished product sadly seems like a reasonable decision. :-/

Take all the time you need.

As I've said elsewhere as well:

Game looks very good.

Very excited to see what you guys make of it, and what else you have planned for the future.

Keep up the great work.

Full disclosure, I am super hyped for this game and would love to play it as soon as possible, regardless of state. I think I would love it more still to play a finished product.

Good on you 11-bit studios for sticking to your values!

This sort of attitude from a developer/publisher is rare to see and generates a lot of goodwill with at least this consumer.

Keep up the amazing work!
