Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Can't open Grail Diary
Anyone else getting an issue that I am getting...

Once you get to Venice and enter the library the diary becomes vital in finding the correct room and slab to break...

If I try to "open" grail Diary it doesn't open it... Indy just says it's my father's diary at the top of the screen

If I click "look" at grail Diary then he says it's a package from my father and it doesn't open either.

So kind of stuck right near the start of the game due to a bug :/

Anyone else come across this? And any tips?

Thanks in advance :p

Have you tried the game manual which links you the PDF of the grail diary? The Grail Diary was initially a form of copy protection. I'm guessing the puzzle is referring to that diary being an old LucasArt game.

You were just missing the last step, open the package and looking at the Grail DIary again.

1."Look at" package ==> It is a package my father send me.
2. "Open" package ==> It's my father's Grail Diary
3. 'Look at" Grail Diary ==> I don't see anything pertinent right now.
***OR*** It will show you some vital information.

Look at this blog post if you can't figure it out yet: https://advgamer.blogspot.com/2013/01/game-28-indiana-jones-and-last-crusade_20.html

You will also need the Grail Diary pdf from the manual (linked in the Steam store page!) for certain important information later in the game.

NOTE:

Looking at the in-game Grail Diary will only work in certain rooms.

Never mind these other guys who don't know how to read. You have a buggy version. Is this the Steam version you're using? I have an EGA version like this. The grail diary won't ever open: it is always treated like an unopened package. Unfortunately I do not remember where I got the buggy version from (though I see the EGA version on dosgamezone has this bug), nor where I got my versions which are NOT buggy. However, hope is not lost: ScummVM eliminates this bug, so that's what you should be using. You won't get the IQ points or the original save/load screens, but at least the grail diary will work.

For the record, I have purchased this game legally, twice over (both Steam and GOG), but that's the VGA version. The original EGA version is not available for purchase anywhere.
