I'm no newb, i have about 20 t-rex kills under my belt , well over 400 raptor kills and nearly 30 triceratops kills .
That video impressed even me hehe. I can fight a t-rex any day, heck i even fought 2 and won but those two t-rex kills were the quickest t-rex kills i've seen so far .
I knew it could be done , i just hadn't seen it done yet. Never thought to use walls like you did to get close to them.
So good job man.
I'm actually in the process of rendering a tutorial video to teach people how to hunt raptors right now as i'm writting this . I'm glad our vids are covering different aspects of the game :D
Why would you call this an exploit ?
Why should 2 shots in the heart be considered an exploit ?
I call it strategy , he used the wall to hide himself from sight but he attracked the t-rex by making a bit of noise while moving . Waited for the t-rex to show himself and then took him by surprise with two shots in the heart before the t-rex even knew what was going on .
There is no exploit there , that was nothing other than a smart move.
There are no rules that say that a T-Rex should take over 20 shots to kill . Shooting any animal in the heart will kill it , both in TheHunter and in TheHunter: Primal .
I don't see how the devs could release a patch to make it impossible to do something like this .
A hit in the heart is a hit in the heart , period.
EDIT: Ok i admit i had not watched the entire video when i posted this . I can see how sneaking up to a t-rex and managing to move from right under his feet might seem like an exploit . But then again , the t-rex is a large animal with limited mobility. I mean not a very flexible animal , he can't really turn fast so ... I guess i agree that t-rex AI should be improved but i still wouldn't consider this an exploit.
I guess they could make it so that getting stomped on should damage you or even kill you. And they could also make it so that , if a t-rex is unable to bite a player that is laying right under him, the t-rex should move away, turn around and then charge the player .
But even then people will find ways to kill a t-rex quick .
this exploit called "understanding of their behavior"
nonetheless i often killed by trex cuz of strange movements and other accidental things
I understand your defensive position and will to reason that this takes skill, or is working as intended, but I beg to differ.
Those first 2 rex's... well played indeed! :)
luring, ambushing, chasing, dancing around a tree, etc
but for people who are afraid of trex will come down this way to get started
Other than that a good video.
if its exploit and it will be fixed, we figure out how to kill them anyway
and another couple of rexes without "exploits"
1. chasing and terrible aiming =)
2. accidental ambush
http://youtu.be/vhoxv3ritn4
is it exploiting too?
What has the concrete wall got to do with running infront of a trex? and then running under its head and then to its side, taking aim and firing a couple of shots with a slow weapon whilst the trex does a tap dance for 10 seconds?
Look up the definition of exploit. The rex's AI dont know what to do, so theres a delay before the next animation script. A real animal reacts and does not have a mind fart like this AI, even if it was scared it would freeze rather than judder. The player has adapted to this problem and used it... hence exploit. Its a fine line between adaptation skill and a exploit. The later utilises something that shouldnt be there.
Yes player will adapt, but hopefully in the future, not using AI exploit. Do i have a problem with this? Not really, the player has adapted as i expect anyone to do, but the dev team must fix this.
And the shotgun happens to be very effective at short distances. The .308 and the .700 are better suited for longer distances. The .44 pistol can also be effective but its loud and attracts the T-Rex.
what are we arguing about?
in the game "human vs lizard" i bet human.
and i have to say more - its simulated lizard.
so we will always adapt and nerds will call it an exploit.
if you are not in sight, it doesnt matter what camo you wear. but its does if rex is moving towards you.
i use .44 for luring rexes =)
When hunting T-Rexes in a group, I would often shoot with the .44 first to lure the T-Rex closer. I'd be the bait luring the T-Rex closer to my friends so they can shoot a few times too. Killed three T-Rexes that way.
But I prefer to hunt the triceratops instead. Preferably for a one-shot kill, which means you have to lure them with the crawler and crawl very close towards them to shoot them in the heart.
