WHAT IS REGICIDE??
Hey guys,

thanks for dropping by, I know there are a lot of questions about this game but I thought I'd start by addressing the most frequent one to start off, I hope this helps.

Are you short of time or TLDR?.. Watch this video below ;)

https://youtu.be/-NO5wHRm1BM
++ What is this game? Is it just chess with a 40k Skin?

To answer that, I'm going to dig into the different modes - there are two:

REGICIDE- is an asynchronous tactics game. Its played out on a 8x8 area. You get two phases of action for your turn, the first phase you get to move a single unit into place, the second phase you an use a pool of initiative points to use abilities such as grenades, snapshot, go to ground and more. Unlike chess - the units have health (wounds), armour, toughness, weapon strength, and weapon skill. And as mentioned earlier they all have unique abilities. That said, the units in your army do move in the same way as in chess, and some of the chess rules still apply. During the next phase of early access we're going to be mixing things up with new board layouts that include blockades, mines, cover tiles and more.

CLASSIC - is a straight up chess mode, only with brutal fully mo-caped animations, effects and more. We included this mode for the chess fans out there, however plays a far smaller part of what we're doing with the game.

++ Where is the idea from?

Regicide is a game taken from the 40k lore. It's described in multiple Horus Heresy Novels, including books by Dan Abnett and more recently Nick Kyme. Its described in the lore as a roughly chess based game with additional abilities. It's played across the universe in many different ways and was stated to be a favorite of The Emperor.

++ Why make a smaller turn-based strategy game and not a RTS?

Many may not know, that Hammerfall Publishing is a small indie developer/publisher. We wanted to start off with something that was high quality but was smaller and more manageable. We are listening to those who've asked that we use the same artwork to make something bigger... If this game is a success and everyone gets behind us, then you never know - a bigger game could be on the cards for the future.

++ How much does this cost / is this going to be over priced? / Whats included

The game is 14.99USD base price with a 10% discount during Early Access. We recognize that we are an Early Access product. As such we've got lots of content that's on its way shortly so we wanted to recognize this fact so we're reducing the price by offering a 10% discount on top of the base price to thank everyone for early adoption.

Included Items
> Skirmish (single player quick match mode)
> Multiplayer
> Blood Angels Campaign (coming soon)
> Orks - Goffs (1 additional faction coming soon)
> Space Marines - Blood Angels (1 additional Faction coming soon)

Bonus Content
>Space Marines - White Scars. (To say thanks for getting involved in Early access, we'll be giving everyone a Whites Scars Army)
> Orks - Bad Moons (We have a forum on the official regicide website, by completing tasks on the website such as helping other players by making helpful guides, you earn honours - honours give you XP, when you get to 40k XP you get an additional Bad Moons Army - mode info can be found here http://www.warhammer40kregicide.com/forums?forumid=8&threadid=7322

++ Is it pay to win / Will it be riddled with micro transactions?

The plan is to release the full game with all the included content first, giving everyone good value for money is our first priority. We wanted to avoid microtransactions so Regicide has no boosts, no pay to win features, every purchase you make will give you permanent content. But to be transparent and as with most games, some additional DLC may come into play later down the line but this will be a little way off to be discussing this now.

If you have any more questions you'd like me to answer, please feel free to comment with a few more and we'll do our best to answer.

Thanks for the information, the pricepoint ultimately will determine when I pick this game up....its not a matter of if....just when.

A great, much needed look into the game. Smooth animations, solid looking gameplay.

How many factions will be available at launch and will there be others piecemealed in DLC?

Hey its 14.99 UDS - but we are in early access, and we wanted to acknowledge that we've still got lots of content yet to come so we've decided we'll be implementing a 10% discount to further reduce this. :)

Hey there - we have 2 races, each race has 2 factions (4 in total), 2 of these come with the game, the other 2 can be earned though getting involved in joining the Early Access (White Scars) and earning 40k XP on our official regicide website (Bad Moonz)

I've added some info in the OP to explain the latter point - but here's the forum link to help out

that's awesome to hear, i'll probably get a few friends to buy this now that there's a discount. steam players are like moths to flame when it comes to sales, but have developed a "wait till sale" mentality when it comes to full price games.

will you be offering a 2-pack or 4-pack deal? I think it really helps boosts population in all multiplayer games. cheers

So uhh..if you guys release a mod kit with this you realize someone will make an Xcom game out of the assets you created?

Je, I was 50:50 on buying this, but the "Later on down the line, there is there going to be a few items of DLC, generally speaking there will be one or two hero units (they have different abilities but they're designed to be balanced to not give an unfair advantage) Plus additional factions and mini campaigns" kicked it down again. Will wait till this game actually shows awesomeness before considering a purchase.

Just so you know-not buying this game is the highest form of Heresy out there. You will not do the Emperor proud!

so a 40k chess game yay.. now srsly tho. its a good enough idea, i have to say that 40k is quite lacking in pc games department lately. i got into 40k after playing Dawn of War back in the day and i still play it from time to time. DoW 2 was a major fail in my book. Making an RTS army management game into a tactical run about nonsense is what they did to it. It may be interesting to hardcore 40k fans, i myself own a copy as well but come on.
back to Regicide, i think i will have to play it first to be able to form an opinion on the game yet. But since im seeing a fresh wind in 40k universe, id like to voice the idea that if someone was to take the classic board game and make it into a working virtual piece of art, that person/company/whoever would very quickly gain a huge player and fan base.. in my humble opinion. Since the actualy 28mm figures are quite expensive which one could get over. but it requires a lot of time to set up games, find people who have an interest in this genre and own an army and so on.. So you might gain a hoping supporter here. and i will keep looking forward to an W40k game that would honor the 40k universe as it deserves. thanks for reading this fan ramble and good luck

Will be an option to buy season pass on steam? How much it will cost?
PortalShifter May 5, 2015 @ 7:28am
After reading this my opinion changed and am looking forward to check this out. I do have fond memories of Battle Chess, after all ;)

I really like that this game concept is taken from Warhammer lore and is an actual game they played. Cool!

Naturally I'm going to be biased guess but I've always been a believer that the best way to decide if a game is ready for you to buy, is to check out the reviews - both good and bad; and all of the screen shots to get a feel for what everyone else is experiencing.

Reviews - http://steamcommunity.com/app/322910/reviews/
Screenshots - http://steamcommunity.com/app/322910/screenshots/

If we do release the season passes, it'll be from inside the game rather than from the steam store. Since everything is cross platform, it means that we want to ensure anything you get (including the free unlocked content), you keep even if you want to play on a different device

We've got a few months of additional content included in the early access that we're yet to announce. Some things we have announced is the full 50 mission campaign, about 15 new abilities, multiple new chapters and clans etc have to come first. Then we're working on a few nice surprises for everyone that we'll be adding too.
