So glad you're interested in our game! To address your questions, content can be unlocked via the Armoury, selecting an ability will allow you to preview and unlock it.
Tiers are unlocked through progression: levels 5, 10, 15 etc. come with a new tier which can be selected from via the Armoury's second tab.
Factions unfortunately do not have different models or audio at this stage, but it is on our development wishlist.
Thanks for playing!

This is a detailed guide to unlock things, many fun things!
At the main game page click on the Armory option. There you can view, manage, and unlock abilities, tiers, Space marine chapters, and Ork clans. When you click on the Armory, by default it will load the ability selection page, to the left of that you will see the ability load out page. You can save your ability load outs to be used in game against Space Marine, or Orks for each race. Also you will notice the Blood Angel Captain with his fierce Mohawk wearing his glorious red, black, gold, and white battle armor, the Goff War Boss to his right will not be in color as he's not selected. Below the Blood Angel Captain you will find the Space Marine abilities. Select an ability, or mouse over them to get a description, and stats of that ability. You will see that a default ability load out has been saved for you on the page to your left. When you unlock more abilities by earning skill points you can modify those load outs by clicking on the x next to them to clear that load out, or you can click on the ability you want, and then click on the one you want to replace it with. Be sure to Save and exit when you're done or you may get a surprise in battle when you can't find that newly unlocked ability you wanted to scorch the enemy with. To the right and below the abilities you will Skill points and a number. This represents how many skill points you have, each ability costs 100 SP to unlock it. Skill Points are represented by an Eagle to the left of your name, level and XP points at the top right of this screen. On to the Orks. Select the War boss picture to load the Orks and all their abilities.
The last option in the armory is the army details tab above the BA Captains head. When you click on this it will load your player stats page on the left, and on the right you will once again see a picture of the Captain and the War Boss. Below their pictures you will find a chevron or drop down arrow to select a drop down list that allows you to see the other Space Marine Legions and Ork Clans. They can be unlocked for 10,000 requisition points, or $1.50 if you can't wait and want to support the game a bit more. I purchased the game as a Christmas present for a friend, and purchased the DLC sound track for myself as the Emperor blessed me with winning my standard version of 40k Regicide at a twitch stream TV event in late November, along with an Ultra marines Hoodie I've never seen. Any how, it's easy enough to earn requisition with out purchasing them, you decide which route you want to go. Of note, the Bad Moons Ork clan is only unlock able by earning forum honor points on the primary forum at www.warhammer40kregicide.com where you made your account in the fist place. You may notice one of the other awesome Legions is missing, that would be the White Scars. They were only available at early access and pre purchasing the game. I've suggested that they be made available for DLC, though maybe it makes more sense to make them unlock able by Level 50 players only. Rewarding Players that have finished the campaign with the White Scars, or a higher amount of requisition points, xp and skill points to unlock them.
The last thing on this page is how to manage your tiers and leveling of each chess piece. Select one of the leaders, now you can click on one of the units or chess pieces, say shoota boys, the player stats will disappear and bigger picture of the shoota boy will load. Note the green PX bars under all the units, the numbers represent the levels they need to attain by earning PX to achieve the next tier, which there are 3 tiers for each unit. Immediately under the shoota boys feet in the small picture there should be two white arrows with one white dot between them. This is how you can select the different tiers once you've unlocked them. The neat thing in my opinion is that you can mix and match your chess pieces according to which tier you like the best. Or you can simply make them all tier 3 when you've unlocked that tier. Again, click arrow to go back and forth, then select the shootaboy again to see what the new tiers picture looks like.
1) You can reach different tiers by earning XP playing these game modes: AI skirmish,Campaign, and ranked leader board player vs player random game option. The Multi player challenge a friend option will not earn you any XP, SP, or requisition point's; furthermore, it will not effect your ranking on the Classic and Regicide Leader boards.
The campaign is the fastest way to earn the three currencies, especially if you unlock all of the objectives. The harder the AI difficulty the more of each currency you earn. If you lose any of these game modes you only earn XP. Player vs Player on the Leader board is ranked
2) Skill Points unlock Space Marine, and Ork abilities. They can be earned by playing any game mode except the multi player challenge a friend mode, which earns you nada.
Enjoy my guide to unlock things! Feel free to add me if you have any questions about this or anything else in regicide. I'd also be happy to get you up to speed either in Classic Chess or Regicide. I do encourage all to check out the training option and do both tutorials regardless of your chess experience/knowledge. The librarium can be quite helpful also. There is a nice chess 101 guide on the steam forum. The Battle Brother that wrote it did a nice job.
