Game doesn't start
I've had a look through previous topics, when I click play I get a spinner for like a few seconds then nothing happens at all/ I tried googling it but obviously the name didn't make that easy, are there any common issues with running on win 7 or anything

What is the resolution of your desktop?

Maybe you try to start up in a window (and then go full screen later)

First of all, you need to go to your Steam Library. Then, find "War, the Game" on it. Press the Right Mouse Button, click Properties, and, then, "Set Launch Parameters". Type "-windowed" inside of it. Click Ok, and then close the Properties Tab. Launch the game, press Alt + Enter,.

How annoying.

Could you make sure this directory does not exist?
Documents/My Games/War the Game

It contains save games and settings and should not be there yet. If it is there maybe the game is trying to load an old savegame?

'fraid not. I don't mean to ask a proper dumb question but is there anything you need to do when you've been gifted a game to like activate it or something? Was gifted this game over steam.
Thanks for trying mate

I've never been gifted anything but if Steam lets you install the game I see no reason why it wouldn't let you run it.
There is no DRM or anything in the game that would stop it from running.

Unless the Steam client isn't running. Are you starting from within the Steam client?

Somebody said the game wasn't working when Mumble was running. Do you run this?
Zarniwoop Jan 25, 2015 @ 2:54am
No, I am running everything from steam client, I keep this pc clean it runs literally whatever game I am playing and a few editors, no mumble, don't use anything like that. I verified game cache last night, nothing changed so I uninstalled it last night, I've shut it down proper overnight I'll install it again just now and see if it persists, again thanks for giving it a go mate

Have reinstalled there, still no change. I've had a mess about with compatability settings.. I'm going to check the recommended specs against my pc but I really can't imagine that my hardware is going to be a problem.. =s
Zarniwoop Jan 25, 2015 @ 3:01am
Recommended specs are not the problem

I didn't think so. The game doesn't use too much of anything.

Could you describe exactly what happens when you run it?

You said you get the round spinny mouse pointer.
Does the screen ever go black? Do you see the name 'GabberGames'?
Do you hear anything?

Anything else unusual happening?

After you attempt to run the game is the process visible in the taskmanager (is it still running?)
It is called warthegame.exe. If so; how much memory is it using?

Do you ever get anything like this with other games?

The only games I've had issues running were Fallout 3 & Fallout NV, but that's fairly common on windows 7 it seems. When I click play from the Steam client the spinner appears for a few seconds, you can hear my cpu doing something, then the spinner goes away and that's it. I've just tried loading the game with task manager open the warthegame.exe did appear with a load of about 88,000, it sat there for about 10 seconds then disappeared. I'm running like 6gbs memory so it's not ike it bottomed out with too little ram or anything..
I got to say like cheers for giving the time trying to solve this mate.

I went through the initialization of the game keeping an eye on the memory.
For me it use 85M up until the point the screen was set up and it jumped up to 135M. Not sure what that means.

Is it possible any files are missing/got deleted from the game somehow?

I'm kind of running out of ideas.
If you are worried the gifted thing caused a problem you could send me an email at feedback@warthegame.net I'll send you a proper full game key that you could try.

I verified the game cache, then I completely uninstalled, reinstalled and verified again and it seemed totally fine, nothing failed to verify. I'd say that commit sounds about right, think mine was sitting around 88mb, what's the default resolution, I am playing no a 1300X768 monitor, I'm just starting to think maybe if it's defaulted to like 1280x1024 or something maybe when it tries to full screen it borks and fails, there any sort of config file I might be able to change the setting in? I'm not sure if it being gifted makes any odds, I'll email you a report of my pc specs as well just in case there's anything there that's of interest..
I really am impressed like with the amount of correspondance I've had with you, that's a hell of a customer service.

I've just tried running it again while I was having a properly good look at task manager, when warthegame.exe appears so does werfault.exe, don't know if that means anything, it's not there otherwise and it disappears as soon as warthegame.exe does.
