Prophecy Games bails
Seems like about a year and half ago.
Prophecy Games released "Starsege: Deadzone" I played for about 100hrs or so. trying to HANG IN while the player base died, due to changing every part of the initial game released, which cause an uproar on their discord. then they doubled down and didnt do anything period, so the player base dropped to zero... 2024 they shut the game down and bailed on the game fully. This game looks literally like a RE-BRAND.

The differences is that Starseiga was a live service multiplayer game that a small studio like them couldn't sustain.

This is 100% single player with some coop slapped in for people with friends to fool around with. It is built on the ashes of SS:DZ but is definitely it's superior in all ways. Let go of the hateful backward thinking of "they should of just went bankrupt and stuck to starsiege" and embrace the fact that they tried a new formula and surprisingly it works.

Hey saw a similar post elsewhere, re-posting part of the answer below because think it could be helpful here. Sorry for the poor experience, we wanted to keep actively supporting Starsiege Deadzone but the player count just got so low that it wasn't possible financially and we would have needed to close the studio entirely. This way, we at least have a path to get people a new game that still has some of the magic of the old one (but with plenty of changes).

All the best, hope this is helpful

We made a couple posts on this but honestly recommend just trying the demo out quickly (nothing to lose there, its free) and you'll likely find that Deadzone Rogue has a lot of the same things people liked about Starsiege Deadzone (combat feel, space environment, etc), but with a different PVE and roguelite twist (there are lots of new enemies, different elements and perks to create unique builds, etc).

Also the plan is to give Deadzone Rogue for free on Steam in the future (we have announced this previously), to anyone who made a purchase in Starsiege Deadzone in the past.

It's not really the devs, but the puppet master owner and CEO, Erez Goren.

You already have a game in Early access. Why aren't you finishing that, before launching this?

Why did the player count decline on your previous game? What steps are you taking to avoid that here?

Please post a 2 year road map for BOTH of your games.

The game
The game was solid at some point. Then most supporters complained about not having enough P2W advantages... the devs closed the servers for 2 weeks with a funny excuse.
At some other moment they changed it from an Extaction Shooter to a boring and bad Battle Royal to finally come back to Extraction shooter, but just worst. Most of the active players were also telling them, what version of the game was good, but they never listened.

Management
This was pretty horrific.
Erez (CEO) was confident enough to type in the Discord chat that he doesn't care about the player base, but only NUMBERS.

Bans and muting were pretty wild also. Mods were just kids with a hammer.
One of the mod was even saying in-game "Mod Abuse" when killing people.

Just an horrible studio and staff.

Oof... you're asking for the Moon I feel.

Starsiege: Rogue is basically Starsiege: Deadzone.
If it took so long for them to even make a Demo, that's probably just to let some people forget about the Failure of Deadzone.
