Please steparate elements from weapon trait rerolls
Can't mess around with your weapons gun traits without bricking your weapon by making it off element. Due that weapon traits become just what it has on it other then any reasonable rng to shoot for.

I find that in the course of a run I won't ever reroll unless I find a gun that is the right level/rarity I'm looking for and is off element to begin with. Often I brick my build as a result, and you can't carry 2 primaries so I wind up losing the gun that WAS working just to take a gamble that never pays off.

They need to rework rerolls very hard, and honestly just remove the cap on rerolls altogether. Make it exponentially more expensive to reroll the same weapon so you can brute force a build if necessary, and then you just wind up sinking all your scrap into it. That's a completely reasonable tradeoff.

Runs just aren't long enough to justify trying to get a legendary level 10 primary of the correct elemental type in the current system.

Agreed here, just locking the damage type would actually open up the game a lot. In addition to the points you both made you'd have incentive to ditch a stronger weapon and invest in a lower level weapon also if it had the damage type that you want for that slot.
they should make it that when we take an elemental perk all future weapons drop with that element, or fabricators allow us to apply our perk element for and upcharge
in most of my runns i completely ignore elements and just go for crit or weakpoint builds and elements are just randoms bonus's that may or maynot help

They actually drop the weapon youre holding when you purchase another and roll on it

Nah this wouldnt work - there are 9 perks around sharing other weapons procs with other weapons (Ie "your primary has 20-100% change to proc your secondary's effect")

which is where crazy ♥♥♥♥ starts happening lmao

I think they just need to split the elements from totally, even just getting them on greens feels a bit wasteful. They can even add another perk for rerolling it
