Reloading the pump shotgun like you say you have to wait to finish the insert shell animation rather than instantly firing if theres ammo in it.
Swapping weapons plays an inspect animation each time - you can cancel it by firing but it interupts ADS and in coop with ping theres a delay before that animation plays.
I've also encountered invisible reloads in coop where when i've failed to cancel a reload and now have to reload again the animation doesnt play which means that as the player you get no feedback as to whats happening.
Weapons also automatically reload when hitting 0 bullets. This isnt normally a problem but theres a ton of +ammo to magazine passives but now the reloads playing you cant cancel it by shooting.
Like if i have +2 bullets after moving 5m and im using the double barrel, thats an extremely powerful set up - but because it auto reloads when you hit 0 shots its clunky so you need more ammo to buffer to get away from this problem (same applies to other +ammo to magazine items).
