AVOID- scam dev, total cancer.
If you followed their development of Tribes III, you'd know this is an absolute dumpster fire waiting to happen. They have no issue scamming you into buying a game that will never release. Tribes deserved better and so do you!

Thanks for the feedback guys - it's true that both TRIBES and Starsiege Deadzone struggled in the past, we wanted both games to succeed but unfortunately just couldn't retain enough players to keep supporting them at the level players want and keep the studio running financially. Multiplayer games are just really hard to make work, especially right now.

That is exactly why Deadzone Rogue will be a single player game (ideally with co-op as well) that has an up front cost to buy it. It will not be a free to play game where skins are the main thing being sold. We've also announced in the past that the full game of Deadzone: Rogue will be available for free to all players who made any paid purchase in Starsiege: Deadzone through Steam.

The demo for Deadzone Rogue will also stay free so players can try for themselves to see what the game is like. The game is not designed to have tons of live service updates (unless it's a total rocket), and it won't have major server costs to keep it running.

I'd also say, you can always give the demo a shot and see if you like it or not. If you play the game, it's pretty clear it's not a Tarkov clone. It's definitely set in the same world as Starsiege Deadzone, with a similar combat feel and aesthetic, but with a lot more rogue lite elements and PvE focus. We've been pretty up front about all that from the start, and think it makes sense to focus on what players liked in the past, but put a twist to make it fresh.

All the best, and sorry you had a bad experience with our past games. We're trying to do our best with this one to deliver a great experience, and unlike multiplayer queue times and match balancing are not an issue, so that should be a lot less dependent on how many people are online than in past games where that became a major challenge.

Can confirm death is slow but certain with these guys, as these devs have delisted multiple games from the store so people don't see the reviews. One such game is Starsiege Deadzone.

The Tribes 3 fiasco (revival game of a beloved IP) was a total Early Access disappointment because these devs work to do the bare minimum in order to get your time and attention, then once they have your cash they rugpull in inconceivable ways. Since their games need connection to their master server, they eventually produce a brick in your steam library as well once they nip their validator offline.

Don't even look at this game, even if there's something you like about it just look elsewhere or you'll waste a lot of your time that could be going into honest developers who need your support instead.

I'm not defending them, or the methods of shutting down previous games - but this one is supposed to be single-player.

I won't lie - I liked the demo and would like to see what "full" version will offer. Not as a 1-day buy, but I'm curious if they can screw it up. Multiplayer games have upkeep cost and while it's not the players' fault that the game doesn't support itself - at some point official support will be cut/reduced.

Shutting down a single-player game would definitely be an achievement, due to "servers" not being available.

I do not know their whole history, but if I see bare-bones EA without any good explanation and winded-up price - yup, avoid.

I've experienced their beta programs in the past and singleplayer functionality is completely disabled if they turn off their authentication server. They don't need to give you a server to join a game, but they can force your client to talk to their server to validate your game. If this server is not there, the client won't boot unless you crack it.

Again, there are honest devs out there who haven't done anything shady in their lives who need your support much more than whatever these mercenaries are doing. Look at the link for Starsiege Deadzone that was posted and look at the forum and reviews, which aren't few. The complete lack of tact between developer and customer base is shocking.

That had a tarkov clone with the same name and assets, they are just rebranding it to sell skins etc.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I mean you can't call an early access game a scam if it doesn't receive the funding to stay alive. I went through this with a studio called double fine and Spacebase DF-9 or something like that. Other players may not have interest in the same games as us. Having played the demo I have high hopes for this game and have featured it twice on my YouTube channel. Granted I'm a small creator on there but I am doing what I can to help this game succeed.

So give up the Starsiege license to somebody who actually cares about it instead of riding its corpse hoping for something to magically stick while you do absolutely zero marketing or anything to actually make the games successful.

Killed Global Agenda, Killed Tribes Ascend, Killed Tarkov-Tribes (Why do this?) Killed Tribes 3 (half baked and terrible), made a terrible sports game "Ultra Strikers" with your pulled T3 gamemode and killed that one too, i'm ready to watch this one flop and burn too.

i don't think reusing game resources is a scam, especially the original game is a failure.

Gotta love the toxic gaming community trying to ruin everything in their path because they just can't stand to see other people have fun.

FWIW the FREE demo is great and I'm glad the Dev didn't throw away thousands of hours of work from a failed MP game (most multiplayer games fail these days, no "sCaM" there), but turned lemons into lemonade. If you don't like the demo, perhaps find a game you do enjoy as opposed to getting your kicks out of trying to torpedo another small Dev....

gotta love the braindead rubes that continuously dump out money for sludge like this.

keep riding that demo like it's the greatest thing.

Precisely. Reputation matters in this industry. It seems Prophecy aka Hirez is being rightfully haunted by theirs. I heard a while back that they were down to something like a 20-man team as well.
I dont get it. They clearly have a poor history with closing games. But this is a PVE single player game that is not asking for money at this time. If they pull the rug out from this project no one loses money. If they release the game and people buy it, they are going to keep the game they bought.

I'm well to bet they play every year of cod or AC game ever made and those 2 IPs reuse resources every time and so do many other games
