Noob question. How long does it take to respawn resources?

I spawned on an island with several other people. Need to gather the 200 metal, but can't find any that hasn't already been mined. Hung off the side of the island looking underneath, etc. Is there something like a 60 minute timer? I already crafted the torch, and I'm not sure what else to do.

They deleted my post complaining about the difficulty in resource gathering.
My entire first island was completely licked clean aside from two ores on the underside. I mined them and the ore fell into space before I could catch it.
I refunded the game immediately

Also the answer is that it varies, not sure what it's based on but it seems to be in the region of an hour to an hour and a half.

Doubtful - i didnt swear or accuse anything.
I simply stated that I immediately refunded the game once I realized how broken the resource gathering was. None of which were against community or steam discussion guidelines.
You lost a customer for life on that one.

Im upset because I have to wait for a small amount of money to go back on my card.
It was falsely advertised that it was simple to get resources either through sponsored lets plays or gameplay trailers by the publisher.
It isnt and its constantly complained about.

You didnt see minecraft show people building mansions in their trailers for people to buy and realize that mansion took 3 weeks to build because every island is picked clean of ore.

Every island I've been on has been filled with ore.

Sounds like you need to stop trying to make a massive ship from the start and make a small one and jump islands.

You also clearly didnt read my post above saying that there were only two ore veins on the ENTIRE first island for me and they were on the bottom. The ore fell before I could catch it.
That means that I COULDNT EVEN FINISH THE TUTORIAL WITHOUT LOGGING OFF FOR AN HOUR OR TWO AT LEAST.

I found two veins on the absolute bottom of the island and then fell to my death, haha. Looks like it's time for another break to let things respawn.

it depends, but everything respawns when a storm hits. lots of shaking and thunder.

i have had no dificulties in finding matireals, but i havent played since the new update tho. however you can just take them by force from other players if your lazy.

in islands that have lots of people that visited having resources is going to be harder to find one that hasn't been mined, but generally you should get around 200 per node. As there was a wipe recently and update everyone is getting on so its more likely to find islands picked clean, but after a while it should respawn. around mid to end game you will get the opprotunity to get higher amounts of resources to build bigger and better ships. So don't worry make a small dinghy to look around for knowledge and leave T1 as soon as possible.

i traveled 6 different islands just started today this wipe, got 2k of a few metals already...there are planty of resources

It varies from about 1 hour to about 2:30 or so depending on the altitude. Higher altitude islands reset less often. I think its a bit more often in Haven, the tutorial zone, but I haven't stayed there long enough to confirm that.

The first days after a wipe always have an unusually high population density and, thus, competition for resources. It'll even out as the first couple waves of players get themselves further out from the Wilderness.

You also don't catch ore. You salvage it exactly the same way you break the rock around it and you can salvage it as soon as you see it. You DO use "E" rather than the salvager to pick up atlas shards but you don't have to wait for it to fall out of the node. As soon as it is exposed you can grab it.
