I agree.
So I watched the video, and in all honesty i agree. If it's doomed to fail then so be it. Why throw more assets into a doomed game. We bought it, played a round in it a few times... game breaking lag. absolutely unplayable.

HOWEVER, that being said, You still obtained an engine, assets and loads of core programming. undoubtedly you will put this to use again. Remember us when you show back up with that new title we bought please.

game ar good beter marketing som GA help and game cud be one of beter on steam but if they give up and shut down they never gone be heppy like this duds ho made evolue first ask 60 euro then go free stage 2 then take money non refund and run like in pay day 2 pepol do i mean pepol in game pay day 2 not develoeprs he^^ add som co op mode sommting to keep game online and add som stuf to make it life.
ps if you give up now when all know all stuf you do over net and media you never end any greayt game and world a drift loke cool and cood be beter then wow.

They posted a very honest video explaining the move. They offered refunds to a reasonable purchase time frame. They offered two free games to founders. They are still here in forums trying to discuss the y's and how's.

Honestly I have absolutely no reason not to believe them.

I don't recall any other single failed title being handled so elegantly. Not a fanboi, just seeing it for what it is.

they cud lower cost of host server and whit out player they cent find all bug right i know tons game use free test inf pepol and wish normal player ho play in free time to time game to find all errors and glitch when i was kid games us pro game testers now most game dont and world a drift hm marketing beter;) if ask me opend online shop sell items form game to real life pepol and so suport server time online ask players ho play ther to fidn and raport bugs and first them and the big opend game when they all gone not so hard im most days along fix scrypts and scenarios efekts and eatch time i patch game wher was som stuf ho dident worck so most time i play own game and then log out and fix it eawen som duds ho us may bank program in game email me to send them may bank cuze i find out how do it and i send them copy of may program to build in game storage for money and items but they was biger company and liek 3 times email me back to help fix it;) you know them bioware duds from nwn nwn 2 ye they did us the bank system or build on may stuf ther own not sure but dont give up i spend som nice time but most time die from hook wrong way^^ lost loot or to complex fly ship in guns of icarus more clean fly air ships shud try it;).

the host servers only cost something like a half penny per player hour. Plus the instructions for SpatialOS make it clear a small version of a game can be hosted on a PC.

No more EA MMO's. This has become a consistent BUSINESS MODEL now. Release an MMO in early access. Take money. Close. Keep money. All the while of course promising to see the project through.

Landmark repeated itself, and this NEVER should have been allowed to happen. This is rank theft.

Then why not got down the same road as most dead titles.

Step 1 Kill communication
Step 2 Kill Updates
Step 3 Wait 1-2 years while still selling dead title.
Step 4 Close title


Landmark was a total different story. It was bought out by another company and scraped.

I have to respectfully disagree. I don't believe this is a cash grab.

It wasn't "bought out". Good grief. The company basically just ejected its game developing sector which formed into another entity. They gifted it to Columbus Nova in exchange for CN keeping the tech under wraps it would seem.

"In 2015, Columbus Nova appeared to buy Sony Online Entertainment, changing the name of the online gaming company known for its EverQuest to Daybreak Game Co. When the sale was announced, Daybreak claimed it was being bought by Columbus Nova. But now the company is claiming it was purchased by Jason Epstein, a longtime Columbus Nova executive who left the firm last year. Columbus Nova has even put out a statement saying "it never had any ownership interest in Daybreak.""

I don't even really have any idea why you think your points somehow clear these people of making cash grabs, but the simple fact is there are lots of ways to scam people. The common thread here is this habit of creating new tech and wrapping it in an MMO so people don't have a game they can keep playing. Lather, rise, repeat the hype to get more and more money and keep the tech in house and unreleased.

Columbus Nova -> Daybreak Games = Not Sony.....

They weren't bought out is the point. They were tossed aside.

Your source, which is not the company you are discussing, knows less than the company you are discussing about who owns what.

Again, the point is not that Sony no longer owns the rights to the tech we all paid for. The point is that the disappearance of that tech is not the natural result of normal business decisions. Columbus Nova is not a GAME DEV company. CN does not admit to ever having any ownership of the IP in question.

The whole thing is as shady as the day is long, and somehow this is your argument that MMO's popping up and then disappearing is not a cash grab?

Incorrect, it is a natural business decision, happens every day. Cost-Profit = Can we afford to continue.

Shady is killing comms and moving on.. This is a business decision, simple as that. Seems to me they did everything within their power to smooth this over.

They did kill coms. For months before shuttering, all the while pretending they were still planning on moving the game forward. Who are you kidding?

Speaking of killing comms, why is it we JUST heard recently they had not been keeping up with the current version of SpatialOS?

Oh they have BEEN killing COMMS.
