Singleplayer mode???
Worlds Adrift is shutting down their servers. That's very clear right now. But what if we could still play it without the need for servers? That way, we could keep playing and have fun. It seems like it's either singleplayer or nothing. I really don't want to see this game end.

Hey there,

Sadly we can't make the game single player, we have the Island Creator which does not require SpatialOS to operate.

Unlike our other games, Worlds's network is built on top of SpatialOS, a proprietary tech. Worlds does not run without it, nor can it be hosted outside of SpatialOS's infrastructure. It stops us from both making it P2P or allow anyone to host their own servers, unfortunately.

I'd be content with a single-player mode. But I feel like too much of the game is tied to their networking solution. Might be too big of an undertaking. I wish they'd thought of this ahead of time. Maybe it would've been an option.

We weren't scammed. They are simply unable to keep the servers up, so they can't keep multiplayer even if they wanted to. I'm sorry if you feel scammed. This is specifically why I asked if singleplayer is an option.

What are you going to do in singleplayer mode? There is barely any content in the game to even be fun in multiplayer, singelplayer won't be much better.

You will screw around in it for a few hours at most, swinging around with the grapple hook, make a few ships, then get bored and never touch it again.

They should have downscaled it instead of shut it down completley. If they made it a game that ran dedicated servers of a few hundred players instead of an MMO, it would have worked out so much better.

I still think adding the shipbuilding into the island creator would be enough for me - build an island and then a ship to flip about it - shweet.
