Exceptional Promotion

Anyone have any idea about this? My thought is I'm not getting offered because I'm in a Vagabond Unit, but maybe someone else has a better understanding of it.

I think its because of vagabond unit, but i think you need good relations with the ruler in order for the promotion to happen. I noticed before i became a vagabond unit i had people asking for me to join them constantly, the moment i made a vagabond, the requests stopped and i never heard from anyone again.

I got this by being a free officer and get high friendship with an officer, i was playing the assassination missions and killed the regional ruler, after that the officer become the ruler and the next turn i got marshal position offering.

@LRNK: I had the same thing happening! But I wonder if it was just luck or if the high friendship had a role to play in the fact that this specific officer became Ruler…

I joined with Liu Bei at Chibi scenario and he first made me a marshal within 2 years ( I had the +50 level enhance on ), and then out of nowhere he comes to me with "promotion to ruler" and he stood down and disappeared entirely from the rest of the game.

My friendship was C with him since I did argue with his choices a lot and tried to press on to capital city conquest instead of minor province warfare, I thought he was about banish me when that option suddenly showed up. o_o

As far as I know, promotions depends on the Merit you gain during battles (Invasion and Defense certainly, most likely Raids too) and from the bi-annual strategic objectives. From what I have read, Merit from battle can make you access to Marshal where strategic objectives tends more to… well, Strategist.

So… I guess you just got a lot of Merit during the battles, it would explain the quick rise to Marshal. But it's interesting to read that friendship is not (that?) important for this matter! I was persuaded of the opposite.

Run lots of Defence/Guard mission and fill up all the objectives much as possible. They will notice you sooner or later and come to you with promotion.
Best and easiest is join kingdom > do lots of quest and befriend with ruler > quit the job > and wait for ruler to come with promotion.

So it explains! But I wonder if special missions do help with the promotions or if they only boost friendship. (Or if they even boost friendship in fact. I have absolutely no clue about what it actually do.)

I got promoted to strategist by my CAW's mother now, all I did was complete the strategy phase missions for 3 x completed for few months in row and friendship was at B.

I tried to rebel to get the event, but nooo, can't rebel against your own mother.. xD

Yep, we can send our childern to fight after they are what, 3 years old? But can't rebel against your parents :D, I feel so oppressed right now xD
