How do I unlock Event Battles

I got the Yellow Turban Rebellion Event, but when I Started the Alliance against Dong Zhou I beat and finshed it but never got it, I checked free mode and only the rebellion event was there. I also tried battle of chibi but also never got it

Yellow Turban Rebellion:
Player is not Zhang Jiao or Hua Jin.
Player is in any faction except Yellow Turban.
There should be 3+ nation on map.
Zhang Jiao have 3+ area while Hua Jin have 1 area.
3+ turns have passed.
Not happen in the month of War Council.

Hulao Pass :
Player must not be Dong Zhuo, Lu Bu, Hua Xiong, Yuan Shao or Sun Jian.
Player have joined faction other than Dong Zhuo or Yuan Shao.
Lu Bu and Hua Xiong is in Dong Zhuo faction.
There is more than 3 nation on map.
Dong Zhuo controls Luoyang and Changan as well as Yuan Shao/Sun Jian controls at least 1 or more area.
3+ turn have passed.
Not happen in the month of War Council.

Battle of Guandu :
Player is not Yuan Shao, Yan Liang, Cao Cao, Guan Yu or Xu You.
Player is in Cao Cao faction.
Yan Liang and Xu You is in Yuan Shao faction and Guan Yu is in Cao Cao faction.
Yuan Shao controls Ye, Cao Cao controls Xuchang.
Yuan Shao and Cao Cao is not allied.
6+ turns have passed.
Not happen in the month of War Council.

Battle of Chibi :
Player is not Sun Quan, Hwang Gai, Zhuge Liang or Cao Cao.
Player is in Cao Cao or Sun Quan or Liu Bei faction. Cao Cao faction and Sun Quan + Liu Bei event are different so have to play twice to see both event.
Hwang Gai must be in Sun Quan faction, Zhuge Liang in Liu Bei faction.
Cao Cao must be controling Xiangyang, Sun Quan controls Hefei + one or more area.
Cao Cao and Sun Quan is not allied.
Liu Bei and Cao Cao is not allied.
9+ turns have passed.
Not happen in the month of War Council.

Battle of Chengdu:
Player is not Shima Zhao or Liu Shan.
Player is in Shima Yi faction.
Liu Shan faction have more than one NPC.
There must be 3+ nation on map.
Shima Yi controls Tiangsui, Liu Shan controls Chengdu + 1 other area.
Shima and Liu is not allied.
12+ turns have passed.
Not happen in the month of War Council.
Note: Just don't forget "Shima Yi" have to be ruler of nation and Shima Zhao is his undering. But funny enough, main event personarity is Zhao for some strange reason..

Thanks for these info, so thats why the battle of chibi was canceled Liu bei attacked a Sun Quan territory just as the text talking about Cao Cao bringing an armada popped up. so do these events unfold by itself or the player still have to do something?

By themselves, so long those requirements are met.

Just make sure every required person is in appropriate faction and least have the area asked (might be easy to control if you are Marshal or Strategist of said faction).

Can I replace said characters with my CaWs? I believe in 7 it prevented events from showing up...

As long as you are not playing required event character.. you can play as anyone.

I did all the steps for Chibi, Cao Cao had some unique dialogue about it and now there's an arrow pointing from Xiapi to Hefei... But I can't join in or do anything about it. I'm playing as Liu Bei, which seems to be okay from your list, and everything else matches up with what you said. So what do I actually do to take part in the battle?

not sure which one, but you can find some new non-standard maps in free mode. that much i can help you sry

Jiangdong map-Linked to DLC campaign 'The Little Conquerer', in Event Mode is called 'Defeat Liu Yao'. Sun Ce will call for allies around month three. I was Zhou Tai(The 'real' one), one of the recommended officers for that map. Maybe he'll ask all Free Officers? Maybe you have to be in what will be Wu?
Hanshui map-Event Battle: Battle of Hanzhong. Tied to DLC scenario 'The King of Hanzhong'. Be a Shu Officer, either by starting there or joining up quickly. He starts quickly.
Jiange-Tied to DLC scenario 'The Fall of Shu'. Be a Jin officer. Event battle is called 'Battle of Jianye'.

Can confirm that the DLC Scenario "King of Hanzhong" will have the "Battle of Hanzhong" trigger within THE FIRST YEAR (mine happened in around 6-7 months after the scenario started), so recommended to start as a Shu officer, or be a free officer in the Shu-controlled regions (don't forget the 500 gold to do Serve)
