Can't play it...

Anyone can tell me why the Framed game shows up black? The game seems to run and I can click on things. The colored background shows through, but the playable "framed" areas are all black! I can't seem to find any settings to fix this.

So sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem. From the sounds of it, it could be one of two issues:

- OpenGL 3.2 support is missing
To solve this you update your graphics drivers and re-install the game.

- Unsupported resolution issue
Sometimes with older PC's or laptops, we see this come up, to solve this try the game in windowed mode.

If neither of these work for you please send along the details of your device and we will pass them onto our QA team to look into

For me the game won't even start. I press play, it shows that my game starts but no window shows up. Then few seconds later it says i'm not playing anything.
My drivers are updated, I have verified the game cache and uninstalled and installed the game back a multiple times. Also I have the minimum requirements for the game, but nah, still can't play.

Hi, sorry that this issue has popped up for you. We are testing it on our side now. In the meantime we'd recommend:

Uninstalling the game > deleting all of the game files ( Usually found in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\FRAMED) > Reinstalling fresh and trying again

If that still doesn't work try running straight from the .exe (Usually found in:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\FRAMED\bin\Framed.exe)

Doesn't matter windowed or fullscreen, the framed portion of game is still all black. The music plays, the game plays and I can see the mouse and you can click on things.

I just purchased this game and i can't even get to the home screen. Whenever i try, it immeadiately closes, saying that Framed.exe has stopped working. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game to no avail.

Hey Folks, sorry that you have run into this, have you already tried repeating the workaround above?

Uninstalling the game > deleting all of the game files ( Usually found in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\FRAMED) > Reinstalling fresh and trying again

If that still doesn't work try running straight from the .exe (Usually found in:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\FRAMED\bin\Framed.exe)

The game is missing MSVCP120.dll and MSVCR120.dll. Some other games also include these files. Search your steam library for them and copy them to the FRAMED\bin folder.

It's almost been a year since this thread was created and considering the game was just on Chrono I'm surprised there aren't more people with this issue.

Anyways, when I try to start it from my Steam library it just goes to "running" for a second, then to "syncing" and is done. No window opens, no black screen, no error message. Opening the game from the folder gets me an error message because "OpenAL32.dll" wasn't found, which installing OpenAL again doesn't fix. Not even when downloaded separately from the OpenAL website.
I've updated my graphics driver, completely deleted and re-installed the game, tried several Windows compatibility mode options and copied over MSVCP120.dll and MSVCR120.dll to \bin. Nothing.
Paying for a game that just doesn't work unless purchased from GOG with an explicit warning this might be the case hasn't happened to me in a long time. :/

Played this game NONE seconds because it won´t start.
Tried to refund but Steam didn´t accept my wish to give it back.
So i have to found a fix.

If i start the game, there happens nothing but a pop-up showed.

Pour moi aucun message ne s'affichait à part quand j'ai essayé de lancer le jeu via le .exe directement, donc déjà: compliqué de savoir quel était le problème. Finalement ça m'a affiché qu'il manquait "openal32.dll" et j'ai pu le télécharger facilement via https://support.gog.com/hc/fr/articles/213039085-Le-fichier-OpenAL32-dll-est-absent-de-votre-ordinateur-erreur-de-lancement?product=gog. Le problème est maintenant résolu. Si tout ce qui manque pour le bon démarage du jeu c'est un DLL ça serait bien qu'il y ait une MAJ pour toutes les futures personnes qui rencontrent le problème, on est déjà très nombreux à le soulever !

First I didn't have any message; I just didn't know why the game wouldn't start. Eventually, by starting the game from its .exe I had a message that the "openal32.dll" file was missing, then i downloaded it from https://support.gog.com/hc/fr/articles/213039085-Le-fichier-OpenAL32-dll-est-absent-de-votre-ordinateur-erreur-de-lancement?product=gog. Now it's fixed and the game launches normally, but I think there is a lot of people complaining about this malfunction and if the only issue is about a .dll missing, maybe an update would be nice, for all the future purchasers and gamers :)

Well, but i got OpenAL installed since in played Unrela Tournament 3 and use a Soundblaster Soundcard for listening.
Don´t know why Frames won´t run under Windows 7, but flawless under Windows 10.
And thanks.... i should play it finally. Did forgot that i own it ;)
