How to use a brush on beefalo

How you guys are using a brush properly? Using action button does nothing, right click only triggers my character replica and left click attacks it with the brush (which is definitely not the proper way). Maybe I should feed it for a few days more before doing it or something?

By the way, I shaved the beef a few days ago but it seems it already grew the wool back so I think it should't be a problem.

Left click brushes the beefalo- check if you were holding down alt while trying to as that will switch it to attacking instead. You don’t need to feed it or anything, as long as it has fur.
