Craft a Belt of Hunger to negate Wolfgang's Metabolism issues and you'll see him reach his niche. Dragonpie and Bacon and Eggs are really good emergency "Go Mighty" foods. Meaty Stew not so much, spoils too quickly.
Also, since he has a lot of health, if you need to focus on healing him, let him get hungry enough to get into his Wimpy form, heal him up (since he has less total HP, it's easier). Your health will stay at 100% when you change forms again.
I do very much like having Wendy/Abigail around, but Wolfgang can be very useful, too. I find Abigail to be awesome against things like Spiders, but less useful against things like the Hounds.
Best thing to do is cruise in Regular Form unless Mighty Form is needed. Wimpy form has it's uses for healing (effective double healing w/ half health).
Great tips, dude!
I really get stressed out when there's a Wolfgang in the group because he is likely to start raiding that mini fridge when no one is looking. And since his brawn is only really good for combat (though he can still get overwhelmed) I feel he could use an inventory space bonus or something that works outside of combat for the early game, that would make a whole lot of difference. Currently I see little reason to keep Wolfgang fed over the whole pack.
That sounds more like a bug than a character feature. I guess the character just isn't for me.
300 hunger and 200-300 HP are the first things I noticed upon playing Wolfgang. He'll rarely be full (300 hunger in comparison to say Wilson's 150) and his hunger drains at a higher rate the closer to 300 you happen to be. You should pretty much be gathering in wimpy form and only chub up when preparing to engage in mortal combat.
I normally find any frog ponds or spider nests and setup around that area. You can destroy spiders and frogs in mighty form without issue and a couple of basic traps will help prevent you from being overwhelmed. Drying racks for the frogs and a bird cage to recycle monster meats (plus any other about to expire cooked meats) will give you a dependable supply of eggs. If you go the farm route the Bird Cage will also give you extra seeds if you feed the bird the fruits.
A Tam o' Shanter is something I try to get a hold of every winter if I'm able to track down a Walrus camp also. It helps with Wolfgang's sanity which can take a pounding during winter's extended nights.
