What is the goal of this game?

Is there any monsters to fight? What is the goal of it after survive? Is there any long term goal?

The goal is to survive, just that. You can set your own goals, like build a base in a way you like etc.

Try to watch some videos in youtube or something. This game has a lot of content. Really, a lot.

Well... the goal literally is to survive really. There are monsters to fight and a lot of dangerous stuff to overcome. In endless mode the only real objective is to stay alive as long as possible. Which sounds pretty pointless to some I guess, but's it's not easy, and if you enjoy survival games, this one's definitely a fun challenge.

There is a story mode that kinda explains the plot to you, to enter storymode you have to enter maxwell's door.
Once in storymode, you have to collect items to create a portal into the next chapter. In story mode you find out how you got stuck in the wilderness and who is behind it all. I don't really know how to explain it without giving the plot away, but there IS a long term goal and a plot, although this does heavily revolve around survival.

Edit - as someone else mentioned, Adventure mode is not yet added into the Beta yet, and only applies to the base game, Don't Starve.

Just as a note, adventure mode hasn't been added yet. The developers are still trying to figure out the best way to go about it since entering adventure mode (and caves) would be adding a second server and could cause major lag issues (think of having people in the nether and overworld in minecraft, same sort of principle).

This is a good point, I forgot that adventure mode isn't in the Beta yet.

on the contrary, this game is difficult if you're new. You'll most likely die a lot. Especially Don't Starve Together. People tend to die more often for some reason. But surviving in don't starve is very difficult if you don't know the "tips and tricks" but even then, you'll still probably die. This game is about beating the odds with all the cards and odds in the favor of the obstacles and challenges. I hope you consider buying it, it also has a great community. Most people try to work together.
