I can understand the problem with playing with strangers, but the same goes for every multiplayer game of this sort. Rust comes to mind with people being like that. It happens man.

You've completed life. Games are always more fun with friends.
They're way to laggy.
Don't buy it. Half of the community just spawn in food. There are hardly any legit servers, It will be day 2 and they have all these rare items.
A day or so ago I was looking through the server listings, and I stumbled upon one that had very low ping. I noticed that the server was passworded, but the password was conveniently placed in the server's description. Thinking that this was surely a welcome, I went ahead and joined, only to be kicked out as soon as I did. I mean, if you didn't want people to join, why would you place the password in the description? Sigh.
It wasn't much better in the dedicated servers I tried to play in either. Most people were very uncooperative. In the latest one I'd been to, we, the newly joined players, simply got ignored when asking where the base was. The older players, who had been actively discussing their base and cooperating with each other, had already harvested most of the gold and flint which made it hard for us to start up our own bases, and since they wouldn't point us to where their camp was most of us died in the winter, including myself. It was not even a PvP Server, so there's that.
I love DS, and I love DST (apart from the lag), but I can't say that the community (as a whole) is the best. Of course, I'm sure there's plenty of great people that are part of the community, but there's also many that aren't so great. Such is the case with most communities.
