I found a solution to fix multiplayer lag
Do you have a problem like this?
"Picking up items can take too long and sometimes the player gets skipped back while moving. Only other player but the host have this problem."

I found what cause this problem. It's "Host's Map"

I'm not good at english but I'll try my best to explain this. I don't know if this can edit or not but if it can, feel free to correct me. sorry.

I've tested

-Chang server type to "Lan" = not work
-Disable all mod = not work

This is what I found

-If host's map have too much info (explore too much) it'll cause a lag every time host open a map. (status change from 'Good Host' >> Ok Host , Bad Host)

-If you use mod "Minimap HUD" it'll alway lag when minimap show up (not by the mod but because your map have too much info)

-[Other player map = full info] + [Host map = Reset (by deleted old map)] >> Not lag. This mean you don't have to tell your friend to delete their map.

What I did

1. C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\save\session\"server folder"(example = 07500017C39DE57D)\"find a folder with file >>Minimap<<" (delete file "minimap")

2. Your map will reset

"Optional"

3. While in game as host, open the console by pressing ~

4. Copy this >> TheWorld.minimap.MiniMap:ShowArea(0,0,0,10000)

5. Past and enter

6. Your map will be revealed.

7. You'll see only what your land look like but not the icon of object.

8. Ask your friend to tell you for whatever you want to know. (Their map still have a information)

Hope this work for you guys too. :sadelf:

It is still present. Klei still are unaware that this is what makes most games lagg.
My rig costed me 3500 euro, and the explored map still gives me problems.

Step 1. Throw a brick at your computer, Step 2. Stick a potato in the brick, Step 3. Quit, you just wasted all your money with a brick and a potato.

Step 1. Get shovel. Step 2. Find old post. Step 3. Necro in old post and smash your computer with shovel. You just saved everyone some time and ruined a good shovel.

I was able to use this trick to delete a minimap file and successfully remove the lag... but that was about a month or 2 ago. Now, after starting a new game, I can't find a minimap file ANYWHERE on my computer.

I have a sneaking suspicion the minimap data is now either incorporated into the save file for each session's game-day... or maybe the minimap file now saves to a different folder location?

It used to be called "minimap" and existed inside of a folder like this:

C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\Cluster_#\Master\save\session\BIG-STRING-OF-CHARACTERS\KU_blahblahblah\

Please help! I need to delete the minimap file!!

I found it less of the Map its self And more so of the icons that appear on the map,Not only that Items on the host's screen Will cause lag If there are enough of them (So we need a mod that lets you choose what shows on your map and what does not)

It shifted to a client local file for now.

C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\client_save\session\BIG-STRING-OF-CHARACTERS\KU_blahblahblah\minimap

From scripts/prefabs/player_common.lua:399-401::
-- Reference local minimap reveal cache
-- In the future this will come from the server
TheNet:DeserializeLocalUserSessionMinimap()
Meaning this should change in the future to be streamed from the server to the client to help reduce cheaters.

I hate how Klei is all "Go to this other stupid website and submit your issues there" and seeming to ignore everyone on here regarding issues. Am I wrong on this?

You should not port forward port 443.
If you do some research on common ports you'll find that port 443 is the common HTTPS port. That is not something you want to go around forwarding willy nilly for video games. Spread the word lol.
