Don't Starve Together

Don't Starve Together

Don't Randomly Kick/Ban
Quite obvious statement, you not only are ruining the fun of other people if you kick/ban them, you are ruining the whole point of DST by trying to play alone or with friends only, and besides that there are ways to prevent people from joining a game that you don't what them to join.

PLAY REGULAR DON'T STARVE:
It costs as much as Don't Starve Together, and is made for singleplayer. The balances in Don't Starve Together are made for multiplayer, so when you play alone it's kind of ruining the perfect, balanced game. If you don't what to buy that then...

ADD A PASSWORD TO YOUR SERVER:
Not hard, it's in the server settings, and it prevents friends from playing too. Instead of having your server shown and it being inviting for anyone looking to play with people, why don't you add a password so people don't have to view a server that they won't be able to play on anyways, eh? If you want to play with friends only...

MAKE YOUR SERVER FRIENDS ONLY:
Just as easy as adding a password, so then only your friends can play on your server and it won't be shown to the people who want to actually play with other random players. If these don't help you then...

SOLUTIONS FOR CERTAIN SCENARIOS:
1:

Scenario: You made a public server and some cool people joined that you liked playing with, but after that you don't want anyone else to join.

Solution: Ask the cool people(s) to friend you on steam (or ask them to accept your friend request) and restart the server and make it friends only OR tell them a password you're going to set to the current server after you restart it and set the password to that when you do restart.

2:

Scenario: You want to play with other random people(s) but want to make sure they aren't bad.

Solution: Ask them simple questions any descent Starver would know, ex. "What does 0.5 meat and fillers make in a crockpot?" I am not going to say the answer here, but if they don't say it quickly, say the incorrect answer, or don't answer at all, it's best you kick/ban them.

Tell me more possible scenarios i would love to help this community. And, if you are/ want to be a griefer then

YOU ARE/WANT TO BE A GRIEFER:
In that case you shouldn't even be playing this game if that's your intention, i suggest you either stop what you are doing and enjoy the game for what it is or be hated by the community and get banned from the game.

Your post makes sense and are good suggestions up to the following, which does/is not at all:

Not having memorized that recipe for whatever reason != mean the person is bad.

Seriously, one of my best most trusted Steam friends probably wouldn't remember it. (Oh, he does, I just asked him, but anyway...)

I wouldn't be able to give an instant answer, needing a moment to think.

The people I play with tend to remember two or three recipes, the rest is looked up as needed, and that does not even include new players who would be nice.

There have been suggestions all over the place. Like various Mods, and test bases with the real one hidden away.

But when there is a lot of these servers, and they are shown pubicly as if anyone could join and stay if they wanted to, it becomes a problem for those like me that want to find a game and play with people.

That one is the most used crockpot recipe, meatballs.

I would give the person a good 10 seconds, but the reason i would kick/ban them in such a short amount of time is they could be googling the answer, which obviously is a bad thing.

Doesn't change what I said.

With you suggestion to ban/kick people who can't reply to that question, you're just joining those you complain about. And the next thing we see is a post identical to yours, just from a new player sad that his first experience was someone who threw him out for not knowing what a crockpot is or what recipes are.

Add a few more people who do the same, and he might get frustrated, thinking all server runners are just out to kick newbies, no nice and helpful people anywhere. You'd be doing that to a perfectly fine person who just wants to play and find friends to play with.

And where did you get the idea that griefers wouldn't know the answer?

Like I said, up to that point, your suggestions were good, but this really isn't a good idea at all.

I wouldn't find it that quick either.

Um.. I've survived till day 108 so far on my own and don't know what .5 meat + filler makes in the crockpot. You don't NEED to know recipes to survive. Recipes are just an option.

I know 1 monster meat + 3 carrots/berries/pomegranete makes meatballs. But yeah, normal meat is uncommon

That's only for that scenerio, in which you don't want to play with new players which is understandable because then they won't know anything and thus be an annoyance, if you really wanted to you could dumb down the questions so they would be extremely inexpierenced if they didn't know it (ex. "What tool is required to mine boulders?") I would hope people would know that just from logic.

I hate it when I play with noobs (This has happened in different games, LB3, ETC) And they are the host and when they browse through the host choices they see kick and test it on a random player. Just happened to me on a server, but I had access to lucy so they kinda screwed up, because they barely prepared for going out of their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ farm to build another axe, because I was the only one who knew where I found all our flint. And they were out of flint.
Oh hey, I was going to reply to this post, looks like I beat myself to it. But eitherway, 10 seconds? Most GOOD people I know on dont hug me im starve together take 1-2 minutes just to type: "cool", and a minute consists of 60 seconds. that'd be randomly kicking for them.

In that case I doubt they meet your criteria because of so...

If you are going to play with random people, get used to it. They don't care if you hate/ban them, they are trolls. Just kick/ban and move on or don't play with random people or on random servers

So you will just accept these obviously immorale acts? Okay...

It inherently makes the game worse and somewhat unplayable.
I absolutely agree, these kind of server owners are the worst and spoil the fun for anyone who just wanna play together with ppl. Id even tolerate a gamer who keeps asking for food since then i can just effin generate 10 meatballs for him once in a while, heck, one banned me for farming food a few times from my own resources... who the f ck even does that?! Oh yeh, Vietnam jerks do that, eh Rio????
