Don't Starve Together

can we get a leveling system?
hey guys idk if the devs will see this but can we please add a leveling system i really feel like it will get more people attached if there was a leveling system that you could get gifts from reaching certain level points like a gift every 10 levels we could also make it give us xp towards our level for every day we survived or every item we have created and every enemy we have killed making rabbits and frogs give us the lowest and progress from spiders being the lowest and up to bosses being the highest. reason why i think this is a good idea because half the time while playing this game i might be having fun but ik when i die and cant revive thats IT and all so id at least wanna know it was for something other then knowledge of the game and being able to level up wont only wanna keep me playing game after game after game but it should get 70 percent of the player base doing it too.

That's basically what the Insight system is for.
Since it's a multiplayer game, it seems like a bad idea to add even more permanent progression like stat upgrades; old players will face less and less challenges and it'll be harder for them to introduce new players because they won't be on even footing.
This is already true with the Insight system, but it can get worse.

ok but have you considered people could just exploit console commands? wich allready works with the skill trees some characters have

who really cares? plus theres ways to stop that anyway and its only for players who dont like playing games and feeling like their getting nothing out of it

and that's fine~

There's no reason people should be forced to fill out a skill tree if they simply dislike that idea.
That's why they used a mod and/or console commands to bypass it.

To put my opinion into the ring- I don't think an additional levelling system would do much to intrigue new people into continuing.

Now, if people could level up a VCR thingy that showed instructional videos on how to beat the bosses- maybe some people would stop quitting on day 31 >3>

yeh ik thats what insight is for but thats a little bit more clunky then a level system would i mean...i just really like the feeling of grinding XP in any game to reach either the max level or just the highest level i can in general. doesnt have to be permanant as in they could either add a reset progress button or reset your level every month so you have to REALLY grind it and i never asked for leveling to give us skills....i just want XP and levels idk what it is its just a satisfying feeling hitting those high levels in most games like level 100 or level 50

im telling you though...think about it this could be HUGE for a game like this

since after a few hours your probably gonna die and then gain NOTHING from it

i have seen countless new players survive their fist 10 days and then die and quit for ever because they lost everything and realized they didn't get any rewards from it

That's basically like asking for achievements, which Klei seems fairly opposed to. If it would enable proper deepening or specialization of the gameplay like the insight system does, then I could see it being a thing one day. Otherwise I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

A leveling system would only detract from the game's charm and uncompromising design. If you like to see big numbers, there are better ways than an arbitrary score. Creativity and experimentation are key to the reward mechanism, and it's okay to take a break if a player doesn't succeed.
