That boss is a raid boss aka group boss.
So i suggest you grab some friends and try that boss with a strong experienced group !
Also wendy is a bad choice as a boss killer in general :p
Put to sleep, place gunpowder, light, run, return to collect loot. Done. :)
Granted, it takes me a while to farm up that much gunpowder (bird cages ftw), but the fight itself is pitifully short and simple.
the dragonfly itself is not really a threat, because the player can kite her but her lavae's are tricky to deal with. so its recommended to build a wall around your battle zone so the lavae's cant get to you.
it's even possible to kill her as wendy or wes, but you'll need a few weapons because the df is so tanky that even a normal character would need to burn through 4 full darkswords just to kill her.

here are 2 methods how its possible to solo the df. yea, the people used mighty wolfgang and "imma facetank everything" wigfrid, but i assure you that all characters can kill it solo, if the player sees through her attack pattern and kite her properly for the least possible damage to take from her.

there you have it. just don't suck at the game and you'll be able to do it. playing as wes or wendy is not that much harder, the fight just takes longer and thus you might want to bring some more healings, but thats it.
remember that you can still plant gunpowder on the dragonfly, but even without you can pull it off very easily.
people always use stonewalls, but i believe wood might works better because all the lavae's on screen will eventually lag your game like crazy. using wooden walls has the benefit that they catch fire, if you have a flingo placed too you should be fine and it'll snipe all the lavae's for you because they set stuff on fire. additionally freezing lavaes will turn them to rocks which are always nice to get your hands on, especially later in the game when most of the boulders have been mined.

I suggest you watch Stream of Madness, he has World Record killing dragonfly alone.

i suggest creating a new world with wendy , trying to find dragonfly, repeate your steps and see if that bug is "rare" or comes ALWAYS after the dragon flys into the sky etc.
just keep on tinkering and you might find a solution?
@rest posting useless youtube videos about world records and "easy" raid boss kills dont count. Again i want to see a PERSONAL video of anybody in this thread who claimed that boss is "easy" with wendy or wes. until nobody posts i wont believe you. simple the proof rests on you.
i speak of default gameplay with default game mode. without cheat mods and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. with normal humans playing. i dont speak of 1 hardcore freak who did it, i speak of viable claims not useless "paper plans".
Put the dragonfly to sleep/freeze it (it takes a good ten or so hits with the ice staff), quickly place about 150 gunpowder, light it, run, return to collect loot. Done. :)
Try it for yourself. I can tell you it'll probably take several game years to create the necessary gunpowder, at least for one person, and you're almost certainly going to need to mine in the caves/ruins to do so because there likely won't be enough nitre on the surface. The eggs and charcoal are simple to come by, at least. Feed every bit of monster meat you can acquire to a bird, then let the eggs rot in a chest.
This isn't a "paper plan", but I'm not going to bother installing recording software, creating a Youtube account, converting a video and uploading it just to please you. You can accept simple math, or not. 27,500/200 = 137.5 gunpowder. No cheats, no mods, nothing special except a time and resource investment. Claiming it's "basically impossible" is just flat out ignorant.
I don't personally find the armor you can make from the scales all that great anyway, since the potential for mishaps from the resulting fires when you're hit is too big for my liking. The chests are nice to have, but with a Storm Cellar mod or the like set to "unworkable" the chests become rather pointless as well.

hmm... Solution = Pan Flute Retorn, Auto Atk (Ctrl F), Next wave larvae = Bug.
@ op sry to hear that your bug always occurs its just that its the first time i heared of this bug and i read forums on a regular basis. Did you also try reinstall DST or verify integrity of game cache ? if all that still doesnt help do you cheat alot with game commands or use alot of cheat mods ? i suggest you try disable all mods and retry to create that bug. If bug still persists with no mods, no command cheats then i suggest maybe trying on playing on a different computer ? or maybe try changing the OS ? are you playing on linux / mac or windows ?
sry those are just some ideas i can come up with :/
so how is it false then? if a average dst player can solo kill all the other giants (moose,bearger,deerclops), then it shouldn't be a problem to kill the df solo too. all the player needs is more healing and the equipment to deal with it during all situations, like darkness during night and ambient temperature changes during seasons etc. and ofc the player has to last through the whole fight, there's no taking breaks and return to it because it resets the df hp.
as i said before, she's kiteable like any other giant, so learn the attack pattern and you can kill it whenever you feel like doing that. there's not more to it but having endurance to hold out through a fight that takes like three times longer than for any other giant.
dragonfly is not a normal giant and it was never meant as a "solo achievement". read again their dev blogs. dragonfly was a raid test for them, they wanted to add more party content and started with that very boss. so your whole "if its possible for default player to kill dragonfly" premise is all wrong. its impossible for the average DST player to kill the dragonfly. period. exploiting the game and going with the head through wall to farm silly meterials for 2000+ days only cause "its possible" does mean its intended and a smart design choice. it just shows that this fight is imbalance due to solo fight. why do you think the dragonfly only got like 3000 hp in normal DS ? think about it and think what genre DST belongs to ...
