If you can separate one at a time kite them (Without speed buffs i think it's 2 hits , dodge , 2 hits, dodge repeat)

If there are too many tightly packed.
Get some Pigs / Merms to help you or plant a Spider's nest near that spot and wait. Spiders will eventually overwhelm the Tallbirds (IMO dealing with spider's afterwards is easier than with a flock of Tallbirds)

Or switch to Wendy and send max level Abigail at them

Traps are also an option.

Tallbirds work like dragonfly, as in if you kite them too early they will walk up to you and hit you. Doing a 2 hit kite on them with no speed boost or timing essentially is RNG if you get hit or not. 3 hits on a tallbird is possible and stops them from moving to hit you, but the kiting is tight. The easiest way to deal with a tallbird is to wear armor and do 2 hits with a speedboost. How most enemies work is if they attack you regardless if the attack lands or not resets their "chase timer," In other words you can abuse this to lure a tallbird to a road or single them out by baiting out your targets attacks so they follow you.

You need at least 2 gunpowder a marble suit and a couple spears.

nah man you need 30 wolfgangs with bone armor, 200 football helmets, 500 dark swords, and 2500 perogi each. And you need to lure it to celestial champion to help weaken it by 1%

Okay good to know

Wendy generally is easy mode DST. Doggos no problem. Can use Abigail to deaggro Treeguard by having her attack it and then despawning her. Can keep those ship-eating thingies at bay with her. Dead players/ghosts don't drain sanity for Wendy, overall less sanity drain at dusk, night and in caves too I think. Incredibly easy, low risk silk, monster meat, butterfly, honey/stinger (killer bee) farming = infinite food. Abigail at higher HP levels being a light source to keep Charly away. She is also fairly useful in some boss battles, like beequeen. And this is just default Abigail without potion buffs. It hardly gets easier than that. Yet lots of newbies seemingly tend to pick Webber instead. X-]

oh you got the quarry with tallbirds setpiece, those are quite rare.
either get the egg of one tallbird, and momma tallbird will chase you to the ends of the earth, when you are far away from other tallbirds, kite the lured tallbird.

2 hits and run > 2 hits and run. if you have little lag you can try 3 hits, but its risky due to tallbirds wonky hitbox on its attacks.
