I won't even spend $1.49 on it without Local Multiplayer
On Console you get split screen co-op, why not on PC?

The developers actually gave the community a survey on this exact topic to see what the player base wanted. The community's feedback was unanimously against it for the sole reason to spite you and you alone.
It's a controller supported game FFS, there's literally no good excuse for why PC players shouldn't have split screen when console players have it.
Consoles have a paywall for online play, so without couch coop the kiddies of the world that didn't/don't have parents that would pay subs (mine included) would never get the "together" part of Together. There are more differences as well, since ports aren't simple copy pastes. PlayStation versions mandate trophies, but you don't see achievements here.

Part of the reason I moved over to the PC version is DST is one of those I think works better with your own screen (as someone that has played it split screen on PS4). The UI for the inventory and crafting get a decent bit smaller in split screen, you're constantly looking over each others' shoulders in split screen, and being crowded around a single laptop (or desktop) and all the distractions with it isn't all that fun with hounds chasing you.

So not super worth the effort and resources to retroactively bring it to PC when the online multi and server set up is so easy (and doing so would delay character refreshes, etc.). I'll give you that there is no reason that they absolutely should not add it, but there isn't any real reason to do so either when they have already captured a large player base since 2016.

This all said, why are you wasting your time in a forum of a game that means less than a dollar to you? (Yes, a dollar, because you get two copies for that. So assuming the person you want to play with has a PC of any type, online multi only shouldn't be an issue.) One that isn't even their official forum? Your voice would probably get farther in the Klei forums, if you are that determined.

I'm not entirely unsympathetic, though, so while it is not a survival game if you are just looking for a game that you can play on one PC the Cook Serve Delicious focuses strictly on local multiplayer. Not a single one has online coop, but it offers shared play with one other player. They go on sale occasionally for quite cheap as well.

There are a few, third party software programs, that you can use.

This is the top one that came up in a basic websearch:

Here's a different program that came up in a YT search:

That's not a reason PC players shouldn't have couch coop.

You can always just play solo on console.

A lot of people have larger screens.

A laptop or desktop can be hooked up to a television and function no different from a console, Steam Big Picture mode and Steam Deck were even designed for it.

Playing with other people in the same room is more fun to a lot of people, and it's an enjoyable and rewarding experience for many, that's why games like Stardew Valley have split screen co-op on PC.

Playing online is a very different gaming experience, and it requires multiple copies and multiple devices, so it's a false equivalency.

Thank you. You're right, there's absolutely no reason Split Screen Co-Op shouldn't be added to the PC version of the game. It should have been in the game at launch.

Yes there is, because people want to play split screen. They could even sell it as a DLC and people would buy it.

Why are you wasting your time trying to shut down critical feedback to a company?

It's an issue for people with friends and family members they have over to play videogames. It's an issue for people living in households with others who play games.
if you buy the game you will get an extra copy in your steam inventory for free to share with anyone instead of having local multiplayer. i do get it is not the same as having two people playing on the same pc but i think it's a fair alternative

It's true.

When i saw that survey i voted against such feature. Specifically so that 👁 user wouldn't have even slightest chance to enjoy it.

I don't know this person or have any beef with them but by golly i will NOT let them have this feature!

The general sentiment sounds about right for the sort of arguments people give for why customers shouldn't have features like split screen co-op.
unfortunate. good day.
that's mean you cannot play together is living room TV with your family with no mods
"Me and my two friends play behind a monitor so the whole world does." Love to see it.

I just think it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ when core gameplay features are console exclusive don't you think that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥? Can you think of a single good reason a game that has Local Co-Op on console shouldn't also have it on PC?

You know some of us aren't #ForeverAlone some of us have other people over sometimes we like to play games with.
