Question about Wilsons Insight points
Hello, I have not had the time to play the game in the last two days, so I am asking myself if those Insight points are spent PERMANENTLY by unlocking e.g. the beard skills or if I am allowed to relocate the points everytime I join a game as Wilson?

After all, they seem to be capped at 12 points, which is not sufficient to unlock everything...

Thanks for the reply! Are there any costs for relocation or is if free?

it is free.

although the point transfer system as a whole is something I don't entirely understand just yet. on the release day of the refresh, I tried to figure it out by experimenting with a dummy world and my main world.

in the dummy world, I would use either a mod or console commands to skip time to unlock all the insight points, which takes around 150~ days or so. with just one command, you can easily unlock all 15 points.

going into the transfer phase, I went into my main world where I was already at the character select screen after using a moon idol. the points would not transfer. after going back to my dummy world, my points were also gone on that Wilson.

creating an entirely new world after using commands on the dummy world also seemed to not work with the point transfer as well.

it wasn't working until I fully selected Wilson in my main world first before using the commands on the dummy world where the insight fully transferred.

to summarize my findings, the insight only seems to transfer to worlds where Wilson is already selected as the playable character.

I'm not sure if this was already concluded in any patch notes, as I definitely missed them if that were the case, since I wouldn't have felt the need to experiment.

I think you can only reset skills when spawning fresh into a world as a new char or when using the celestial portal to do a char switch/reload. Resetting skills "on the fly" while being an active in-world character isn't possible.

This is true. I tried doing that (by creating a new world just to re-spec my skill points in my older one) and while my skills changed in the new "dummy" world i made, they remained the same as they were before i changed them in my main one. The only way to re-spec in the same world is by using the celestial portal.

the other comments summed it up well, but I also want to mention that there might be a mod or two that adds a reset button without the need to respawn through celestial portal, or spawning in a fresh "dummy" world and respec'ing your skills in the character select screen.

I don't have any mods like that myself so I don't have personal recommendations on hand, but if you're interested enough in respec'ing on the fly, I'd suggest trying to look yourself.

Trying to re-spec by making a new world doesn't actually work. I tried doing that and while my skills changed in the new world, they stayed the same in my main one.

Yeah. The only way to re-spec in the same world is by using the celestial portal. I personally wish they would add a craftable item to the game, such as a "study table" for example, you can place at your base that would allow you to re-distribute your skill points at anytime you want without having to go to the celestial portal and re-select your character. It's not too important as once you've survived long enough in a world red, blue and purple gems become pretty abundant anyways but it would make changing your skills more convenient and less tedious as well as make it easier to experiment with the different skills if you're playing a character for the first time and are trying to figure out what works best for your playstyle, especially since more characters will be getting skill trees.
