Wormwood passives, why craft new plants?
Im talking about the bottom left skilltree, where you can craft berries, lures etc.

Why take it?
The 1st perk for twigs is great quality of life, for world with twiggy trees instead of saplings. But what about the rest?
The berry bushes both use juicy berries to craft, and those dont spawn in every world. And even if they do, farming mushrooms is way easier, even without the passives for shrooms.
In terms of space-efficiency for flingos and harvest speed.
And shrooms can be just as well used for filler in meatballs instead of berries for example.

And Im equally stumped with the lureplants - their special meat can be used for GREAT health restore food (wormwood doesnt benefit here) and GREAT sanity food as well!
But for sanity you can just plant green shrooms and grill em...

Is it just that shroom planters are just kinda too good?
Or are the plant crafts just kinda too weak?

Anything Im missing here?:demoneye::demoneye:

You go down it for saplings, monkey tails, lure plants, or megabasing

Lure plants are just all round neat to have, they oneshot small mobs and even some raidboss summons, provide leafy meat for free, are dumpsters, harvest ♥♥♥♥ for you, and you can use them to effectively increase the range of flingos.

I think most uses are megabasing or swapping to Wormwood to restore a burnt out world.

For an actual play of Wormwood I could see comboing monkey tail and bee friend for Honey Poultice all year around but the points don't seem to add up to be worth it.

Lureplants face a similar problem. They are great. You can set up tons of neat farms and base stuff. You can use them to fight for you and form safe rooms. It just costs too much to get there compared to everything you have to give up on the other trees.

to be honest untill you get enough points to get the lure plant, you are already in spring and you can just walk around and pick them, to me at least this branch is completly skipable, to make it worth (for me at least) they should have improvved his farm mechanics instead of just add bushes you can get by walking around with a shovel, like add ability to plant glowberries/lesser glowberries, ability to store water in his body and water crop plots like a watering can, reduce the treshhold to get giant crops (make easier for him) and maybe add the ability to plant anything without getting season penalty

to his lunar cultivator maybe make carrats pick crops for you and if they are giant they can munch it and collect them instead of having to use a hammer, just that would make it an instant pick for me, also make saladmanders stick to the target instead of trying to come to be near me, remove lighbugs and replace it with maybe a buff to saladmanders when in full bloom, lets be honest if you got to defeat the CC light source is not an issue anymore

and lastly the bloom branch has too much increase speed a little now increase it a little more now stay in bloom longer, all tree should just be 2 skills max, make him have a skill that when you use a compost wrap it resets the bloom timer something actually impactfull

It seems to just be for an infinite growth loop aside from monkeytails.
You use twigs and make saplings to get more twigs.
You use world berries to make not world berries and harvest to make world berries.
You use leafy meat and make lureplants to get more leafy meat.

Besides early lureplants there is no value.
IMO the crafting recipes are boring compared to alternative skills that could be offered.
They could have let him tame saladmanders with Fire Nettle Fronds.
They could have let him tame carrats with tillweeds.
They could have let him ride grass gators like beefalo.
They could have added special properties to compost wrap such as fertilizing grass for geckos or allowing it to be a substitute for tree jam.
They could have buffed any fertilizers used by wormwood for crops or healing.

Thats how I think a lot of the hardcore players of DSt feel, Klei offers these weird ideas, but then does nothing with them and ignores community feedback on them.

the lunar insights are actually busted (in the good way). except for the carrat, screw the carrat, all my homies hate the carrat. however you need the carrat ability to get the saladmander and lightbug abilities which are really good, because summons and equip-slot-less light is really good

monkey-tails give reeds, which is insanely good (honey poultice, night armor, wickerbottom books, other papyrus crafts)

lureplants are useful for auto-farms

berries are good for crock pot filler, food storage, rot production, bait, and more

I was just trying to get all the insight unlocked, and i thought i could at least craft a nice farm with Wormwood to kill some time. But i cannot craft berry bushes without juicy berries on the map? Making berry bushes to begin with was stupid, but then to see the recipe requirements busted also, just adds salt to the wound. I'm sure this will be changed at some point.

I don't find the initial ability of crafting berry bushes stupid. But it's more of a feature that would be used by longer running servers. Trying to survive on such servers, while being new to it, is harder because a lot of the grass/sticks/berry bushes get picked up and moved to the main base. I would personally use it just because I could, and to avoid having to rip them from other areas. In fact, with Wormwood's ability to make some of these things, they could consider bringing disease back. The only problem I ever had with disease was that there was nothing we could do about it.

That being said, it's something I've always wanted in the game. Though I'm disappointed that a regular berry bush is blocked up by requiring juicy berries. Hopefully this is fixed sooner, rather than later.
