Build Order
Does anyone have a build order to help someone get started or in my case to remind them what to aim for first?

It's been a long time since I played and can't remember much at all so a little reminder would be great.

This is roughly the typical order that I use for starting up a base (this doesn't include any further stuff such as a prestihatitator, shadow manipulator, any of the character specific buildings, etc):

  1. Find a suitable place for a base. Finding a place for basing can vary for some people, but I (and others I know) find a location based off of important locations on the world. Basically take the first 2 or 3 days scouting out your world, and try to find things such as Pig King, Oasis, Beefalo, large swamp, etc. Once you have found all of these, try to build your base around the middle of all of these locations, so that you are roughly an equal distance to all of them.
  2. Build a campfire and science machine. This is quite self explanatory, a campfire will never disappear when it runs out of fuel and a science machine will allow you to make some better stuff - such as a backpack.
  3. Upgrade to an alchemy engine and build 1 - 2 ice boxes. Once you have made the alchemy engine, hammer down the science machine and place the alchemy in that spot.
  4. Build at least 4 crock pots (only do this once you have ice boxes). You will want to place these around your ice box(es).
  5. Make a farm. It's been a few months since I've last played the game, so I don't know how big it should be, but you should remember to make a scarecrow on the farm.
  6. Make a lightning rod. You might as well make a lightning rod at around this point, its not necessary yet but its useful to do ahead of time.
  7. Build a storage place. This is optional, but I would recommend it. Just build a few chests for putting away important materials.
  8. Make a place for saplings and grass tufts. This is just helpful for easily getting twigs and cut grass.

This might not be the best or most in depth explanation for a build order, but I hope this helps give you some sort of outline for building a base. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them.

Yeah I meant for a base. Thanks for the list, it'll help me keep things in order.

No worries about it being in depth etc like I said, I haven't played in a while so when things in my memory start jogging again am sure it'll all come rushing back.
