Wx, Wortox, and to a lesser degree Woodie are great for finding the ruins
Wanda and Walter (mostly Wanda) benefit from it much more that other characters
For combat, Wx's speed makes them very powerful, while Wolfgang, Wanda, and Wig have excellent damage

overall, Wx/Wanda are S tier, with Wortox, Wigfrid, and Wolfgang filling the 3rd, 4th, and 5th spots imo

WX and Wigfrid sustain themselves easily. Wolfgang needs to sustain himself less due to his major damage. Woodie needs less materials due to his transformations. Maxwell can automatically mine the statues.

A half-tamed beefalo, so any character really.
Although WX for permanent night vision on top is obviously the most convenient choice.
