Don't Starve Together

Theory- The Constant is a form of punishment
I have a theory on this game: The Constant is a form of punishment for those who break the rules of nature. My evidence? Maxwell and Wanda.
First off, Wanda to whom seems to have INVENTED time travel. She, as we all know broke time by trying to escape shadow hands, to whom are a part of the constant and are used by magic users (like Them). Maybe, time travel is too dangerous and people shouldn't have that.
Maxwell, was using magic, to which seems unnatural when he got pulled in. Either that or he pulled a hand, and it had been a LONG time since someone new got pulled in and they didn't care (Probably the case or else Charlie wouldn't have gotten pulled in) All the other playable characters either already live there, or were pulled in by Maxwell or Charlie. Also since time goes slower in there compared to the real world (we see Wagstaff get pulled in, something that happens during the first game (or not, there is evidence that he is a projection and not really there) then the combined Charlie in a matter of seconds, during the Winnoa short.
The idea that I bring to the table is that someone inhabbits the Nightmare Throne to watch over the Constant and if you break a universal rule, you get pulled into the constant, you are punished until you have learnt your lesson, then sent back like, an hour after you left. Maxwell somehow changes this, and misunderstands the system, leading to the events of Don't Starve
Hows my theory? Leave talk in the comments. See ya/

Interesting theory, the shadows only independently pursued Maxwell, and possibly Wanda and young Willow as well. The biggest issue I can see with this theory is Charlie, who was taken to the constant at the same time as Maxwell, despite being (at that point) innocent. I think you're on to something, but the constant being a punishment for some sort of crime does not seem likely.

Perhaps we'll see in the Maxwell refresh lore video
Doesn't make sense.

How come?

Maxwell was taken to the constant because he broke his deal with the "Mirror."

Wortox came through the Ancient Gateway which lead to other dimensions such as the Forge, and the Gorge. He is also capable of leaving the constant when he brought the terrarium to the constant.

How does Wickerbottom know about Alter, the shadows, and Maxwell's creations before going to the constant? Maxwell and Willow are the ones who inevitably bring her to the constant, not Alter or the "Mirror."

There is also the merm's that came from the Gorge and the pigs that came from Hamlet willingly.

I did not know about Mirror. Shoot, puts a damp into my theory

Wortox is not human. He does not abide by our laws, therfor he might be exempt. He's also the same species as Krampus to who is a native to The Constant.

She had books on the topic that were probably not written by her. As a result of this, we have to assume that someone else knows about the Constant and wrote it down. This theory was writen before her refresh video, so their is that

There is also the merm's that came from the Gorge and the pigs that came from Hamlet willingly.
It might just be earth then, or the fact that we did bring them here through those events.

The only human character i know of that went to the constant willingly without outside help was Wagstaff. Other characters such as Willow, Wigfrid, and Winona intentionally came to the constant with external help (Maxwell/Wagstaff).

There is also this trailer where Wilson straight up kidnaps people.

Most characters came to the Constant willingly. And how did Wagstaff go with no external help?

Hes the one who made the portal that brought WX-78 to the constant, he also is the one who took the portal in Winona's short.

And you think he made the portal by just banging bits of metal together randomly and it coincidentally made a portal to another dimension?

Then how is Wagstaff in the constant? Did he magically appear there one day? Wagstaff wants to use shadow magic and lunar energy for profit, which Alter and the "mirror" probably don't like considering what happened to the ancients, Wanda, and Maxwell.
