That depends on what you are using to sleep. If for instance you are sleeping with a bedroll in winter you will need a fire to stay warm, if you are sleeping the whole night if you don't have a thermal. You don't need a light to sleep, but bedrolls don't protect from rain or heat or cold. If you are using a tent or a siesta you don't need anything else. But if you get up in the middle of the night with no light you will have to equip a light quickly or Charlie will hit you in the A.
