new update causing some issues
I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but I guess the new update borked something with crafting and putting down structures/research labs. I am able to get the structure to show up as a place marker, but I am unable to build it since clicking results to putting the machine away every time, whether it's a science machine or a shadow manipulator, etc.

and I even tried using the free craft command to craft certain items: GetPlayer().components.builder:GiveAllRecipes()

but the character won't make them. granted, this applies to some items and not all of them, modded and unmodded items.

these issues occur with mods enabled. I run plenty of mods (about 65-70+) on most of my worlds, so it would be not only time consuming to see what's causing the issue but also very tedious.

so does this mean that most of, if not all of the workshop mods are obsolete until they're updated, which most of them won't be? or is there a chance that things can be fixed?

Since even using Console Commands didn't work, it's most likely mod related.

Mods are user created, and they can become unstable/incompatible with future game updates/patches.. and sometimes a mod is up to date with the game itself.. but is simply is incompatible with certain other mods after an update (even if they worked just fine together before).

So it's a "use at your own risk of your modded world one day not being playable" kind of thing.. hence the warning from Klei when you launch the game.

This was a pretty intensive update.. so it's going to leave a lot of mods, even worlds, unusable until updated (.. if updated).

Some mod creators update their mods almost immediately after updates/patch fixes/etc, some within weeks/months, others not at all (and those mods become unstable and possibly unusable to the point they can make DST unplayable and game files become corrupt and need to be manually removed).

If you find out the mod(s) causing the issue, you can leave a comment on that mods Workshop page.

If the creator of the mod(s) causing the issues don't update them.. then there's nothing that you can do to "fix" it.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Aside from disabling all mods, and starting the lengthy process of adding them back one at a time (and playing for a bit in the world inbetween each one)..

Here are a few other options:

- With the game not running, "verify the integrity of game files" for DST from your Steam Library.. and let it check to see if there's any missing files/etc.

- Look through your "failed" game log and it might be able to point out the mod(s) that are causing the issue. You'll find the log here:
"client_log.txt" from Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether"
If you aren't sure how to read it, or what to look for, simply copy/paste the log here in the forums for us to take a look at (if it's rather lengthy, break it up into multiple posts).

- Wait a few nights, or weeks, to see if Klei adds any patchfixes, or the mod creators do any updates, that fix things for you (you don't have to not play during that time of course; but do so on a different modless/low mod server, or join other servers).

Thank you for this response. I forgot about logs, but I believe they only come from crashes. As of now, no mods are causing crashes when loading into the world, nor being active in the world (at least the characters I’ve tested). I think it’s gonna be harder to find the cause that way, but I believe I thought of a solution that’s more simple than what I’m making it.

I’ll just make a single world and enable 10 mods at a time, in batches. I’ll do the usual testing of certain game mechanics, more so the crafting and placing structures, and I’ll repeat until I come across the issue I’ve described.

Once I find this to be the case, I’ll look into the latest batch of mods I enabled and pinpoint the issue to only that batch of 10 instead of the entire 70.

I’ll report back with any issues or solutions that come after this, but regardless it still makes me sad that most of the mods we see on the workshop are likely to be considered unusable.

after extensive testing, I found one of my mods that was causing the issue by using the methods I listed in my comment above. I'm not going to list the mod since I feel like it would be a slight "mod shame" but I left a comment on there explaining the issue. it's a character mod, to be more specific.

anyway, the problem (seems to be) solved, for now.

3 people playing together in the same server since weeks, never crashes the game and after that rework, the game crashes constantly and it's impossible to play.
We uninstalled, verify integrity of game files and it seems that everything is okay, but when we join and walk... crash the game. The host doesn't have any problems.

In a new forum post; copy/paste your game log, and we'll be able to let you know what's causing the issue.
