Is it possible to change a worlds settings after making it?
I made a world with entirely default settings since I'm new to this game and wanted to see what it's like without changing anything.
Winters suck. I'm not in danger of dying but I'm only like 4 days into it and the nights are so long, and it's really really boring. I made a second world but there isn't a place as good as world 1 to set up a base, so if it's possible I'd like to just set winters to short in that one.

What are you supposed to do during winters? Is there any way to make nights go by faster? The sleeping roll doesn't do that and nights are so long that I'm pretty sure I'd starve to death if I slept through a whole one.

Edit: This discussion is not about winter, this discussion is about changing world settings after a world has been created.

In the base single player don't starve, the use of sleeping was to pass time. Now in DST, it only heals you. If you haven't explored the full world yet, grab a torch and a heat stone, and explore. Go on hunts (the paw prints), find the Scottish walruses, and beef up your base defenses. Other than a few seasonal activities, DST is mostly exploring, crafting. and chores.

Craft a Lantern or Miner's Hat and be productive during these long nights.

That's what i do during long nights i work on my base / gather even explore.
All i need is a Lantern or Miner's Hat to light the way.

Light Bulbs are very easy to aquire and respawn frequently if you need a refuel.

And since Lanterns are cheap to craft you can craft multipile and replace a depleted one with a full one. Then when you used them all up refuel them all with bulbs rinse and repeat.

I looked it up and found one place that said a command would change the worlds type and another that said to change it manually in the ini file. I did both but I don't know if it worked. It didn't change it visually in the server settings thing you see before you enter a world, it still says survival there.
And now a treeguard is my neighbor while I have 33 health.
Does anyone know how to change an existing world to Endless?
