How do you choose your main?

Hello, when I was starting out, I often chose Wendy since having an Abigail around seemed convenient. Later, I moved on to Wigfrid since I wanted to make friends in random servers. I did this by giving helmets and spears to everyone who was present in the server.

Just out of curiosity, was there any thought process as to how you would choose your characters? Which characters did you start with and which character is your current fave?

Three years ago when I first played this game, the character who I picked was WX, back then I did not know anything about the game nor the lore. I just liked his robot thematic at first sight. I played him for a short period of time, then I remember I kinda tried out every character in the game. As I learned and got better at the game I moved on to Maxwell, I really liked his voice-lines, the fact that he hints to Linux when examining the pengulls just instantly made me fall in love with him. Also I liked that due to his low HP one mistake could be the end of you.

However, my "main" for a very long time was and will always be Webber, I really like that you can just be by yourself, do your own thing on public servers, killing hordes of pigs and he is good in the ruins as well. However, his cuteness is also a big reason why I main him, Webber always manages to make me smile and even though I no longer play this game, I will always love Webber ;D

Most people I imagine decide based on 2 things:
1. Who is the most fun (character's personality, playtyle)
2. Who is the strongest (most powerful character traits, no or very weak downside)

I play a wide variety of characters, but I used to main Webber, he's easily over 1.5k hours of my 2.6k hours on this game. I played him cause I liked his skins and his personality was fun. Plus, spider wars are fun.

It's not only one character to me. I used to think about this subject and always tried to choose my main character. First character i played for a long time was wigfrid due to her killing ability and easy helmets. Then i switched to wolfgang because i wasn't suffering from hunger any longer. But nowadays i don't have main character. Most of the characters in don't starve together are fun to play and good at something, you can always explore new things with different characters and that's why i love to play don't starve together. But still there are characters i like to play more than others and they are wortox wendy and wolfgang.

I picked Wilson cause i like his name. No downsides to manage and beard is nice help in winter + bonus sanity and beard hairs when shaven.

When I first started out I mained wigfrid because I regain health by killing creatures but then I switched to wickerbottom because of her abilities to grow plants and spawn tentacles. I guess between those two I like to switch base don the gaming experience I want to have and how useful I am with the other players. I am still exploring wortox because he doesn't require much to eat and heal. He only uses souls which is a big help if I am with my other teamates. I don't enjoy webber so much.

Who ever I found fun. I played Woodie a lot when I started playing, but then I got a little bored and annoyed of the curse. Then I played Walter, I liked his slingshot and Woby but I had trouble with his downside about health and sanity. Then I played Wilson and then got bored because I wanted an “upside”. Then I played wigfrid, and I don’t get bored or frustrated at her downsides and I like her upsides. Did this make any sense?

When I first got into the game (not too ago, like on january 3rd of this year) I had played DS and unlocked Willow. I LOVED her, because of her attitude and her lighter. I got into DST, still played her. But then I got bored of her after a while and switched to Wendy. I've mained Wendy the longest out of all, the farthest point i've gotten with Wendy was 251 days on my main server. (I haven't died yet either) I loved Abigail, and her melancholy voice and personality. The first skin that I've ever bought was Wendy's "The Nostalgic" skin because I loved the outfits and long hair. Then I tried out Walter, loved him. He was very cute, Woby was somewhat like a beefalo and somewhat cuter than chester. His slingshot wasn't half bad either. I was cautious of his downsides too.

Then I unlocked Wurt. The character whom I related to the most. Short, the youngest, likes to read, sweet tooth, and her voice (weirdly enough) was cool and I loved her quotes. She's also sorta op. I'm just starting to """"""main"""""" Wickerbottom, though it's only for public servers since she's the most helpful to the other people I'm playing with. I don't really like her tbh, I think she's boring in personality, though she's cool and op for the others, making surviving with Wicker to be easy.

I DON'T have a fond spot for Webber. His personality and voice rocks, but his perks are barely there. I'll update my POV on him when his character rework is implemented.

I don't really have a main. I have a variety that I stick to whilst I'm playing. TL;DR: I have a list of mains that I play: Wurt, Wendy, Wicker, and Walter. However, If I had to pick a favorite, I'd choose my lovely Wurt. I can't even, I love her so much. I can't relate more to her lol
