I would much prefer a beefalo.

In all seriousness in the last 4 years the character roster has seen many additions. At this point their probably gonna add everybody.

They've added too many to keep it small so they might as well add him.

Logically it's unlikely since he entered the Constant during Maxwell's reign somehow, despite only entering moments before Winona did.

No, lol

I mean he was a fun addition in solo ds although mostly played hamlet with him.
I’d say he’s decent, part of me wouldn’t mind his thumper to give bearger some days off work for solo play.

I wouldn’t mind him being playable but I feel like they might just make him an NPC but that might just be based on how he is currently in beta, not sure how it’d work out to him being playable.

no, winona already has the role of engineer, and im frankly sick of singler player characters being brought over, we've already have warly and wormwood, and wortox if you count him. I want new characters with new playstyles

I think it'd only make sense if they reworked him quite a bit.
Even with him being my favorite character I believe he should be reworked while still having his core traits. Because of Winona he has to provide something more unique than just being an average inventor.

I think the Telebrella and Telipad should be untouched, because I believe they could complement "Return Of Them" really well in many aspects and prove to be genuinely helpful to other players. His goggles on the other hand would really need to be reworked, as none of them have any qualities that would prove beneficial to other players because of Wagstaff being the only one who isn't negatively impacted in some way by wearing them.

They could combat the issue by having different "components" that he can load into his spectoggles. Using these components he alternatively can make entirely new items for other players. This would be due to the fact that for each type of goggle, there is at least one item that is functionally similar.

I also think it'd be cool if they did something with his radio. I personally imagine him being able to make an object that is like a combination of Wheeler's Navigadget (Since Wheeler most definitely wouldn't fit in DST because of Wortox.) and The Divining Rod, which can be used to track objects in a manner that would feel collaborative, while also not being easily abused for stuff like finding the lunar islands.

While this is all fine, I feel like it'd make Wagstaff suffer from "crafting tab syndrome", as I've dubbed it, where a character's only perk(s) is a crafting menu that remains after character swapping, essentially putting him in the same place as Winona, Warly, Wurt, and Wickerbottom. Sure you can still play as him, but why would you when you could play someone like Wigfrid, Wendy, Wolfgang, or Wortox, who actually have perks that help are exclusive to their character?

Nothing wrong with playing a character for fun, or not focusing on efficiency, but personally I like to play somewhat efficiently, which is why I haven't touched the new Wes rework, as you simply waste more time gathering resources.

That's honestly a pretty good point, I've never really considered that as the reason why it feels so off to play as characters such as Winona. Personally, I enjoy Wagstaff for his downsides, as weird as that may seem. The nearsightedness and delicate stomach adds an interesting dynamic to the game's difficulty without necessarily feeling too overbearing.

I personally wouldn't like for WIlba to be added, we already have Webber, Wurt, and Wormwood for faction characters in DST, we don't need a 4th

Wilba is deadass just Webber + Woodie, but not as good at collecting as Woodie and only good at getting free stuff in hamlet, or something.

I'd expect Wagstaff to like drop blueprints for his inventions at least if he's not added but I kinda don't expect him to be added.
I mostly want his blueprints since the thumper is kinda good... Or at least saves time on Bearger and Chopping trees.
