Regarding the Tencent buy out
Should you be worried? Probably not. If you're worried about potential spyware, take a moment and think about if you have any important information on your pc. Odds are there isn't much, and if you do keep important things, like passwords, you can always write them down irl and delete them from your pc. If you really want to be safe, you can block a/all klei games from accessing your pc's firewall. This should disable things like the steam workshop, multiplayer in dst, and other online things. Obviously if you play with other people online, then you might have an issue, but most pcs and some sort of malware protection, so if any spyware does popup, it should be detected.

As for the moral side of things, that's not something I can speak too much about. I personally play games for fun, and as such, don't think too much into where the money I spend goes. If I want to buy a cool looking item skin, I'm not not gonna buy it because there are people in death camps, and if that offends you, so be it.

So what should you take away from this? You shouldn't listen to what the mob says, do your own research, and come up with your own conclusion. Figure out your stance on the matter.

God I hope I don't come off as too much of an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in this post.

The sole fact that your opening line is about security and data theft alone is enough of a reason to be worried about.

there is more than Data Security its Klei itself, Tencent known of Company goes for Profit rather than Creativity aproach i just hope Tencent Not sucking Klei to dry their Man power and Game Quality

I'm not surprised that a country being eaten by the Chinese government will have it's companies eaten by Chinese companies.

what i will say to all of this is just this humans like to overreact to many things and things like that is one of them so dit i wonder why everyone just screams "tencent bad" and what not? not realy i have seen it cooming and no surprise everyone starts screaming again and then in the end for nothing because nothing is goin to change again like usual i have seen this many times alredy where the company is now owned by someone else and everyone screams and always nothing changed and this time too

Although i dont believe klei shouldve been so low on funds they needed to sell their content to another company, i for one will put my trust in klei. hopefully, we'll see the addition of more non-holliday events like Gorge and Forge and even more positive changes to the game.

Even if you have no qualms about the reported human rights issues and just want to play games, you should at least be worried about the chilling effect the CCP has already had on video games.

Just last month a game was barred from release (on GoG, no less!) because it had a Winnie the Pooh easter egg in it. No I am not making this up.

The market will be the market, one thing that we can know is that EA, Activion, Ubisoft, CDPR, Take 2, Avalanche, ZeniMax Media (Bethesda), and many others aren't gone so the over reaction with China everyone is having should be more focused on klei. Those companies I've listed have much more influence than Tencent and so it is highly unlikely that we need to worry about China taking over. As Tencent buy more companies so will all those others

Check what you download when you purchase a game and look through your computer. When games update check. There are many other companies that do the same thing and while I'm not justifying the behavior it has it's application.

Understand what is happening but make sure to not focus on it so much it becomes the only thing you can see, at least that's what I do.

Actually if there's one good thing about this whole ordeal it's that it encouraged me to check what other games were bought out by Tencent. Since then, I've uninstalled a few more games from my library.
