Is this game good for solo play too?
^Title
Worth playing if i have no one to play with or want to do it solo? I usually prefer to play survival games on my own.

Also are any of the DLCs must have or not really?

It's good for solo, the only problem is monster have X2 more health than the solo one, but you'll get used to it.

Unless you plan to play shipwrecked/hamlet in don't starve, it's better to play don't starve together as it have more content than the solo don't starve.

I don't mind the challenge. Just worried if i might be locked out from certain aspects of the game if i play solo.

Also about all the DST dlcs. Any of them are worth it? I heard all the dlc characters and skins can be obtained ingame with a bit of grinding is that true?

yeah everytime you get a cosmetic item you can "weave" it to get spools which you can redeem for cosmetics, skins, and dlc characters

That's good to hear.

i've been unraveling duplicate items since spools were introduced and i dont even have half the spools needed for a single character, the only way you're going to get them is by unraveling every single cosmetic item you get, and maybe that's not a problem for you, just letting you know

I bet it's still not as grindy as some games i used to play.
At this point i am hardened to grind like this :P

Some bosses are very grindy. But regular monsters and such are not, not even for solo players.
If you really want a more diverse experience and a more-optimized-for-solo experience I'd go with solo DS + DLC. It's pretty unique. If you're not interested in the DLC then stay on DST as the game is leagues ahead of vanilla DS in terms of gameplay, optimization, etc. You also get a diverse set of characters on both. Tough choice, that's one you should make according to your pretences. For the drops, you can get really lucky and get some character skin drops (I've gotten ~4 character skins over my time playing) and the surplus you obtain during gameplay/login you can unweave into spools and make them into your preferred item. The DST DLCs are purely cosmetic (with exception of the characters) so that's a choice you should make yourself. I myself bought a few purely because it looked nice, even though I mostly play solo. Also keep in mind you need to create a closed online world to see your skins (offline worlds don't have skins.)

There aren't any bosses that are impossible to beat without other players. With that being said, certain raid bosses are extremely long to beat solo. But to answer your question, yes, you can totally play this game solo and get the full DST experience!

alsol there is a mod that changes the hp of monsters to the single player versions and enemys that are together only are alsol nerfed by that mod

Nice so it has mod support too.
Thanks all for answers.

About the spools, I have weaved two DLC characters, just make sure to click the reward links in the update posts, sometimes they contain a lot of spools instead of Klei points. Look at the guides for a collection of the previous links

Better than pubs thats for sure. Still have PTSD from people hugging the fire 24/7 and eating all the ingredients in the fridge without using a crock pot.

There is mods that make the game adapt monster's life to the quantity of players on the server
